It emerged recently that Liverpool have no plans to rival Chelsea for Jeremy Jacquet.
Alongside Jacquet potentially joining the West London outfit, we have already seen Manchester City snatch Marc Guehi and Antoine Semenyo away from Liverpool.
Now, speaking on the No Tippy Tappy Football podcast, Sam Allardyce has shared his disbelief that the Reds allowed Guehi to go to City.
He said: “I can’t understand why Liverpool haven’t paid it when they were going to pay that much before. Was it 50 million? 35 million.
“And they need him now. In my opinion, Liverpool need him now more than ever.”

Why Liverpool didn’t sign Marc Guehi
It’s hard to argue with Allardyce’s assessment, given the lack of centre-back options and defensive issues the Premier League champions have faced this season.
Ibrahima Konate will miss the Marseille game on Wednesday for family reasons, leaving Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez as the only natural options for Slot to pick from.
But as has been revealed this week, Liverpool did not push for Guehi due to the fees involved.
It’s thought the stopper is taking home £300,000-a-week at the Etihad Stadium.
And such a sum, which is only bettered by Mohamed Salah and Van Dijk at Liverpool, could have broken the wage structure at Anfield.
