Never mind losing out on Antoine Semenyo, Marc Guehi is also joining Manchester City instead of Liverpool.

There was good news on the transfer front last week when it was claimed that the Crystal Palace stopper preferred Liverpool to Man City.

However, developments over the last day have put to bed any chance the Premier League champions had of getting a deal done.

It emerged on Friday that Man City were advancing for Guehi, and a new update has now emerged.

Fabrizio Romano gives ‘here we go’ to Marc Guehi’s Manchester City move

Fabrizio Romano has taken to X/Twitter to confirm the fee that Palace will net from the sale of the stopper to City.

He wrote: “Marc Guehi to Manchester City, HERE WE GO!

“Official proposal accepted by Crystal Palace right now — understand fee will be around £20m. Guehi has ACCEPTED move to #MCFC.”

Liverpool fans should be fuming at their club, given that they offered £35m for Guehi during the summer transfer window.

But rather than moving for the Englishman again this month, they have sat around and let the Sky Blues swoop in for another target.

How will Liverpool turn things around if they fail to get Champions League football in 25/26?

What Arne Slot has said about Liverpool’s January transfer business

With a move for Guehi now off, it doesn’t appear as though the Reds are anywhere close to signing another player this month.

Will Liverpool make any signings at all before the deadline on February 2?

Well, while Slot didn’t rule out that happening when speaking at his pre-Burnley press conference, his comments weren’t exactly the most exciting.

As per BBC Sport, he said: “I think everyone is aligned about the challenges we’re facing, that’s not to say we are going to act, but everyone is aligned with what we’re facing.”
