Liverpool are fairly certain to sign at least one centre-back in 2026, with supporters keen to see a deal done in the January window.
The Reds have bought only one senior centre-back since 2021 and could be in need of two or even three new arrivals this year.
Up to date reports suggest that Liverpool still want to sign Marc Guehi, but it feels likely that another young centre-half will come in alongside the Crystal Palace captain.

On Sunday, reports emerged that Liverpool are looking at Como defender Jacobo Ramon, who has emerged as a standout performer for Cesc Fabregas’ team this season.
Having joined Como from Real Madrid, Ramon is a highly-rated young centre-back who is setting himself up for a big future in the game. As Liverpool position themselves for a potential transfer, here is all you need to know about the 21-year-old.

Any move for Ramon could unfortunately be complicated by the fact that Real Madrid did not fully cut the cord when they sold him to Como last summer.
Los Blancos reportedly retain a buy-back option which could see them re-sign Ramon for only £7m in 2026.

From there, they could then sell the youngster on again, but would likely demand a big mark-up after his breakout in Serie A.
Ramon has played 17 times for Como this term, helping Fabregas’ team to sixth-place in Serie A. Their record of 13 goals conceded across 19 matches is bettered only by Roma. Ramon has been a big part of that.
Prior to his move to Italy, the Spain U21 international played six times for the Real Madrid senior team, but spent a lot of time at youth level playing under former Liverpool right-back Alvaro Arbeloa. The World Cup-winner clearly made an impression on Ramon, who praised his former manager in November.

“I started to stand out in Arbeloa’s Juvenil A team. He gave me a lot of confidence,” he said. “We were a group of kids who had a good time and didn’t play badly. Arbeloa is a very good coach. I really like his style of play and he is going to go far in football. He has an offensive style and puts a lot of pressure on the opposition.”
What kind of player is Ramon?
Standing at 6 feet 5 inches tall, Ramon was born to be a central defender. A front-footed centre-back who reads the game exceptionally well, he is also deceptively quick.
As you might expect having been brought through at Real Madrid, Ramon is extremely comfortable on the ball, too.
He does have a tendency to go to ground a little too quickly, but having made less than 25 senior appearances, he has plenty of time to iron out those kinks.
Although his stay in the Madrid first-team was brief, he did enough to catch the eye of goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.
“He’s had bad luck both in Leganes and against Celta. But he keeps working hard,” Courtois said after some early mistakes from Ramon. “He’s a great guy. Very good people.”
