Liverpool fans have just one issue with replacing Arne Slot as manager, there’s a new option

Liverpool’s dire performances under Arne Slot continued with a 0-0 draw against Leeds United.

Have results improved? Of course. But that doesn’t change the fact that with each passing week, on-field displays seem to be getting worse and worse.

Fulham are next up before a midweek trip to table-topping Arsenal, and that’s where things could really get messy.

Tell us how you REALLY feel about Arne Slot after Liverpool’s performance against Leeds United 😵‍💫

Arne Slot avoided the sack in late 2025 during a run of three wins from 12, but he’s done little to show he should be kept in a job.

Favourable games have helped the Dutchman ‘turn things around’, but the feeling after the draw with Leeds is that he’s not the man to actually get Liverpool firing again.

Liverpool fans unsure who could replace Arne Slot as manager

However, the only issue fans have with replacing Slot at present is the potential difficulties in finding a top coach at this stage of the campaign.

One fan wrote: “Slot just isn’t going to turn this around, is he? Problem is, who is available to replace him?!”

A second echoed: “The literal only issue with sacking Slot is who do we replace him with?”

“I just don’t believe that an interim manager wouldn’t improve us at both ends of the field. Whoever is gonna replace Slot might not be available till the summer, but there’s no way if they get someone in till May they’d make us any worse than we are now,” a third added.

Another claimed: “If they sack Slot now there is nobody available on the market to replace him with, hence Slot is playing survival football, to get us in the top four, and then we will relieve him of his duties in the summer.”

A fifth fan stated: “Have absolutely no idea who’d come in to replace him.”

Enzo Maresca is now available

To some extent, fans are right, trying to sign a high-level coach midway through a campaign is not easy.

But as one person pointed out, Enzo Maresca is now available following his dismissal from Chelsea on Thursday.

They wrote: “I tell you what, surely slot out and Maresca in wouldn’t be the worst idea in the world? At least till the end of the season. Anfield was the quietest it’s ever been, none of these players get anyone off their feet anymore.”

Maresca has little experience coaching at the very top of the game, but neither did Slot before he came in and won the league in his first season.

Would it be worth taking a punt on someone like the former Leicester City boss, or could we see an interim coach like Steven Gerrard brought in to see out the campaign?
