‘Special’ Liverpool star sees value drop by a quarter in 2025 – but he’s still worth more than Phil Foden

Liverpool have some seriously high-value players in their squad despite a terrible start to the season.

2025 started perfectly for the Reds after lifting the Premier League title, but since then, things have not quite gone to plan.

Although performances have started to improve as of late, Liverpool’s start to the new season was very poor, with some players looking nothing like their old selves.

In fact, they were so poor that it saw many players lose significant market value, with one in particular seeing his stock drop by £26m in 2025, with almost all of this due to the last few months.

Florian Wirtz is in the top 10 most devalued players of 2025

Florian Wirtz may not have been at Liverpool for the majority of 2025, but he has certainly made an impression since arriving, and it has not been the best until as of late.

He really struggled to adapt and was even benched on multiple occasions, something that has caused his market value to take a big hit.

As per transfermarkt, they report that Wirtz has seen his value drop by £26m, from £122m to £95.9m, making him the eighth most devalued player of 2025.

He is the only player on the list to have moved clubs too, suggesting that he can be cut a bit of slack, with number one in the list being Man City’s Phil Foden.

He has seen his value decrease by £52m to £69.7m, highlighting that Wirtz is still worth more than the Englishman despite his improved form as of late.

Alexander Isak’s value will drop a lot more than Florian Wirtz’s

Some might even consider him lucky to not be on the list now, but Alexander Isak will almost certainly be one of the most devalued footballers early into 2026.

Not only had the Swede been short of form, but his broken leg will keep him out until at least March, so his value will only drop significantly.

He cost Liverpool £125m, which would have been more than his market value given his circumstances at the time, but this will be a lot less now, especially given how much Foden’s has declined.

As for Wirtz, he is getting better and better so his value should not drop much lower than that, and it will not be a surprise if it is back to where it was this time next year given how ‘special’ he is.
