Hugo Ekitike is largely considered as Liverpool’s first choice as he has been levels above Alexander Isak so far this season.

The Reds have not been on fire at the start of this campaign but one player who has been is Ekitike.

The Frenchman has hit the ground running since arriving and has scored 10 goals, including two in Liverpool’s last game.

The biggest decision Arne Slot has to make for Liverpool vs Tottenham is:

As for Isak, he has just two in all competitions, with the Swede really struggling for any sort of form.

However, against Tottenham on Saturday, he could be the one to lead the line ahead of the in-form Ekitike, and there is one big reason as to why.

Alexander Isak has a good record against Tottenham

Everyone knows the quality Isak possesses, he has just not been able to show it at Liverpool for whatever reason so far this season.

Many put it down to a lack of fitness due to the striker not having a pre-season, but that should be solved now due to the number of training sessions he has had.

Liverpool fans will be hoping that he will be much sharper after having a week off, and his record against Spurs might just give him the upper hand on Ekitike.

Isak has six goals in five games against Tottenham, including four in his last three against the North London club.

Another goal on Saturday please, Alex!

They have won four of these matches too, with the only one they did not win being the one that Isak did not score in, showing how integral he has been against them.

Of course, a lot has changed since these matches, including the club he plays for and the manager Spurs have, but he might just have the answers given his track record.

Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike could start together against Tottenham

Arne Slot has experimented recently with his system and even tried two strikers up top, something that he could try again, especially now that Mohamed Salah is unavailable.

This means Isak and Ekitike could play alongside each other, something fans will be desperate to see again as they could be the future.

The diamond midfield behind them has also worked well and will help supply them both more chances too, with someone like Florian Wirtz being key to this.

Slot has had plenty of time to think about what he is going to do, so fans will be hoping he gets it right, but these two might be the reason they get over the line if they do.
