Liverpool are back in Premier League action with a meeting against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday evening.

The Reds are in the midst of a much-needed upturn in form, going unbeaten in their last five matches across all competitions.

They now face a Spurs side who have endured similar struggles in the first half of 2025/26.

Name the players who actually had a better 2024/25 season than Mo Salah ⚽

Ahead of the game, Micky van de Ven has praised one Liverpool star, naming him as his toughest Premier League opponent.

Now, Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has taken a turn praising some of Tottenham’s current talent.

Jamie Carragher wants two Tottenham players at Liverpool

Up until last week, the Reds’ inability to keep a clean sheet was concerning.

Ibrahima Konate has been slammed for his inconsistent form across 2025/26, and even Virgil van Dijk has been criticised by fans at times.

Now, speaking on the Echo Of Glory podcast, Carragher has said he would like two Spurs centre-backs at Anfield.

Discussing Liverpool’s backline this season, the host asked the former defender: “Could I interest you in Radu Dragusin?”

To which Carragher responded: “I’d have your two, I’d have your two [Van de Ven and Cristian Romero].”

Gut feeling, has Mohamed Salah played his last game for Liverpool? If yes, how do you feel about it?

Liverpool vs Tottenham clean sheet records with favoured centre-back duos

While Liverpool’s defensive ability has certainly dipped in 2025/26, Konate and Van Dijk have previously formed a solid partnership.

During their entire time together at Anfield, they have conceded an average of 0.9 goals per game as a pairing.

Liverpool also boast a 70% win rate when Konate and Van Dijk start in the back-four, and keep clean sheets in around 40% of those fixtures.

In comparison, Spurs are conceding an average of around 1.5 goals per 90 when Van de Ven and Romero play together, keeping clean sheets in around 20% of those matches.

So far this term, however, it is the Lilywhites (21) who just about have a better defensive record in comparison to Liverpool (24) in the Premier League.
