Liverpool are trying to keep hold of superstar Mohamed Salah beyond the January transfer window.

Salah is not expected to move to Italy despite talk of conversations with his agent.

But the prospect of the 33-year-old waving goodbye to Anfield before his contract expires in June 2027 remains.

Salah could leave in January, but only if he forces through a move, as Liverpool would like to keep hold of him.

Among the potential destinations mooted for the attacker is the Saudi Pro League.

Finance expert on Mohamed Salah moving to the Saudi Pro League

The Saudi Pro League’s chief executive officer has confirmed that they are still keen on signing Salah.

It comes after a previous offer of over £100m for the Liverpool star was made earlier this year.

Now, speaking on the Beyond The Back Four podcast, finance expert Adam Williams has discussed the possibility of Salah moving to Saudi Arabia, and said he can’t see where else he would end up.

Williams said: “There was talk of a 150 million pounds offer [from Saudi Arabia].

“I’d be very surprised if we got to that level now in this environment. He’s got 18 months left on his contract. Saudi Arabia, they clearly can afford to go and spend 100 million if they wanted to, but I think they’re in a position now where they want the league to become sort of move in a more sustainable direction.

“You’re getting more private investment there. So, dropping stupid money on a player and showing the rest of the world that you’ve set this precedent that you could be held to ransom probably isn’t in their interests.

“All that said, they clearly have the resources to offer him a huge deal. And if it’s mutually beneficial for all three parties in the transaction, then I can see it happening.

“I can’t really see where else he would go. There was kind of talk about PSG at one point, but that’s not really their model anymore to sign the superstars, particularly aging superstars.”

Gut feeling, has Mohamed Salah played his last game for Liverpool? If yes, how do you feel about it?

Liverpool’s most expensive transfer sales

It’s not yet known just how much anyone in the Middle East would be willing to offer for Salah.

But should a deal anywhere close to the previous £100m mark be agreed, it would make his exit one of the biggest in Liverpool’s history.

Luis Diaz is the most recent player to crack the top five, while Philippe Coutinho’s move to FC Barcelona remains the biggest sale completed by the club.
