Liverpool supporters have been furiously debating the future of head coach Arne Slot this week after Mohamed Salah’s barbed words towards him.
Salah effectively attempted to pit the fanbase against the Dutchman after publicly declaring that their working relationship had become non-existent.
Perhaps to the Egyptian’s surprise, Liverpool fans have rallied around Slot, loudly singing his name during Tuesday’s win against Inter Milan.
Should Mohamed Salah be brought back to start against Brighton?
Although the Liverpool head coach is arguably on borrowed time in the Anfield dugout, he is still a Premier League-winning manager and is rightly treated like one by supporters.
Slot will be on home territory for the first time since Salah’s outburst on Saturday as Liverpool take on Brighton. Looking ahead to what is another tricky-looking fixture for the Reds, former midfielder Jan Molby has predicted how the Anfield crowd will respond to Slot.
Liverpool crowd expected to be ‘100 per cent’ behind Arne Slot
While some Liverpool ‘fans’ have decided that Salah is absolutely in the right to take on the club and the head coach after being dropped for three games in a week, most do not see it that way.
The cult of the manager is strong at Liverpool, and the mantra that ‘no one is bigger than the club’ rings true every time.

For Slot, Molby expects him to feel the benefit of that this weekend, with the home crowd fully supportive as he tries to build on the midweek win.
“People talk about Arne Slot and we’ve got the social media outbursts and whatever. His future, ultimately, will be decided at Anfield with the results, performances and also the reaction of the crowd,” the Dane told Anfield Index, before predicting the final score.
“I think the crowd is going to be 100 per cent behind him on Saturday, and I have a feeling that there will be some after-effect of the result against Inter, I think that might give us a little bit of a lift.”
“So, I actually comfortably am going to go Liverpool 3 Brighton 1.”
Who should replace Mohamed Salah if he leaves for the Saudi Pro League? 🤔
What will the reaction to Mohamed Salah be like?
During his ill-advised interview, Salah suggested that Saturday’s game could be his final appearance as a Liverpool player.
If he does get on the pitch against the Seagulls, the 33-year-old may be subject to a mixed reception.
As Trent Alexander-Arnold discovered last season, Liverpool fans do not take well to somebody slighting their club.
Many see what Salah did as a direct attack on the Reds, and an attempt to undermine both the manager and the hierarchy.
Most will likely want to simply move on with things and will treat Salah just like any other Liverpool player. But if there are a smattering of boos mixed in there, nobody should be surprised.
