‘Phenomenal’ youngster’s Liverpool career now looks over after heart-breaking social media post

Liverpool have a wealth of talent in the academy, but most never go on to become regulars in the first-team.

The Reds may have brought in some of Europe’s best players over the summer, but that does not mean they are not still prepared to give youngsters a chance to shine.

Although the Under 21s have not been getting the best results as of late, many individual performances have caught the eye of those higher up, with some stars on the brink of getting a call-up to the first team.

Big decision for Arne Slot

In fact, one player did just that and was training with Arne Slot’s squad, but now his Liverpool career looks to be over after suffering a heart-breaking setback.

Kaide Gordon out for ‘some time’ with big injury

Kaide Gordon is a name that many Liverpool fans will remember after breaking through under Jurgen Klopp, although his chances since this time have been limited despite once being labelled ‘phenomenal’.

He has been out on loan a couple of times, but has most recently been shining for the U21s, with the Englishman even training with the first-team due to his performances.

But Gordon himself has shared a devastating update on his social media that he has picked up a meniscus injury, revealing that he could be out for a while.

“So disappointed to say I have torn my meniscus and will be out for some time worst news I could have got and this one will hurt for a while but I will be back,” he wrote on his Instagram.

Depending on the severity, he could be out for anywhere between six weeks to six months if he requires surgery, which is not the type of setback he needed at 21.

Many of his teammates, such as Rio Ngumoha, Trey Nyoni and Will Wright all commented and shared their support, but this might be the worst possible news for Gordon at this point in his career.

Gordon was already struggling for chances in the first-team, and after a long spell away, it looked like he was starting to find his feet again.

He has seven goal involvements in nine games for the U21s, with the fact he was promoted to first-team training being a very positive sign indeed.

But like many young wingers before him, such as Ben Woodburn and Ben Doak, injuries have meant chances are even less likely, suggesting he might have to move on.

With the talent Liverpool have on the wings, as well as their desire to recruit in the upcoming transfer windows, Gordon’s injury might just mean that he never pulls on a Red shirt again.
