Liverpool produced a proper smash-and-grab result at the San Siro after scoring an 88th minute winner.
The Reds have had a tricky start to the season but a very testing few days after Mohamed Salah’s outburst, so a big performance was needed.
That is exactly what they did too, with a controversial penalty handing them all three points to boost their Champions League qualification hopes.
Who was your Man of the Match during Liverpool’s brilliant 1-0 win over Inter Milan?
Arne Slot will be delighted with his side, as well as proving he made the right choice regarding Salah, with this potentially a huge turning point in their season. Here are how the players rated.
Defence
Alisson Becker: 7 – Made some very important saves to keep Liverpool in the game in the first half, with the Brazilian very reassuring throughout.
Joe Gomez: 6 – Fairly solid defensively but did not get forwards much at all, although that is understandable away at the San Siro.
Ibrahima Konate: 8 – Was unlucky to have his goal ruled out for handball, but looked fairly solid at the back. No mistakes for the first time in a while is a promising sign.

Virgil van Dijk: 8 – Read the game well and made some important blocks, while also looking comfortable for most of the match. Liverpool need this to continue.
Andy Robertson: 6 – Was clattered by Lautaro Martinez early on, but shook it off and was steady down the left side. Also did not get forward too much, though.
Midfield
Ryan Gravenberch: 8 – Solid in the base of the midfield and helped control the game. Also took the ball forward well and protected the backline to good effect.
Alexis Mac Allister: 7 – Looked a lot better with more bodies around him and was tidy on the ball. Still couldn’t make too much of an impact despite being the furthest forward in the middle of the park.
Curtis Jones: 7 – Confident with the ball at his feet and was not afraid to have an effort at goal. Looks like he could thrive in this formation once everyone becomes more accustomed to it.
Dominik Szoboszlai: 7 – Plenty of energy as always from the right side of midfield, but definitely a lot quieter than usual. Still put in a good shift and worked his socks off again, with his composure to score the penalty summing up just how important he has been this season.
Attack
Hugo Ekitike: 6 – Was unlucky to have accidentally handled the ball in the build-up to Konate’s goal and felt a little far apart from Isak at times. Worked hard as always, though.
How does Arne Slot get the best out of Alexander Isak going forward? 🤔
Alexander Isak: 5 – Was in the game a little more than in previous games in the first half, but still faded in and out. Barely touched the ball in the second half, though, and was taken off with just over 20 minutes to go.
Substitutes
Florian Wirtz: 5 – The game was calling out for a creative player like himself and he certainly made a good impact. Has to start against Brighton.
Conor Bradley: 6 – Offered a bit more in attack down the right flank and created a few chances, but they did not lead to anything. Shame he is suspended for the Brighton game.
