Liverpool fans told what is truly ‘sad’ about the Mohamed Salah situation

Mohamed Salah comments after Liverpool’s draw with Leeds have certainly caused a storm, and it is only just beginning.

Performances and results have been so poor for the Reds over the last few months that the last thing they needed was a public spat, but that is exactly what has happened.

Salah’s comments have, of course, landed him in trouble, with the Egyptian being left at home while his teammates are in Milan for their Champions League fixture.

Have Liverpool made the right decision to leave Salah at home for the Inter Milan match?

Whether he will ever play again is not yet known, but it seems pretty unlikely while Arne Slot remains in charge.

However, it might even be for the best as Nicky Butt has revealed what is truly ‘sad’ about what he said, and he might be right.

Mohamed Salah’s comments were planned and calculated

Salah hardly ever does interviews, so when he stops to speak to the press, he clearly feels like he has something important to say.

The strangest thing is that he did not even get on the pitch, so there was absolutely no need for him to say anything, which will frustrate Liverpool even more.

Former Man United player Butt also believes that what he did is ‘sad’ because it was not even a heat of the moment situation, but instead, felt like something that was planned.

“I understand when someone goes on the camera and they’ve been a bad game, and I know they’re a bit irate, and you see managers say things and players say things, and you go off, I’ve done it myself, and you go, what did they say,” he said on The Good, The Bad and The Football Podcast.

“I thought I made myself look like a right d—, or whatever. But he’s had probably half an hour to go into the changing rooms, get showered, get changed, and get back out.

“It’s pre-empted, they know exactly what he’s saying. He knows exactly what he’s doing.

“It’s sad, and it doesn’t bother me, because I’m not a Liverpool fan, but if I was a Liverpool fan, that would be really sad, because he was an unbelievable player for Liverpool.”

Jamie Carragher’s rant about Mohamed Salah sums up the situation perfectly

When an ex-Man United player, in this case Butt, and a former Liverpool star, Jamie Carragher, both agree on the situation, it shows just how out of line Salah was.

The scouser spoke about the situation on Monday Night Football, and it is safe to say he did not hold back, labelling the winger as a “disgrace”.

What’s your reaction to Jamie Carragher’s verdict on Mohamed Salah’s comments? 💣

“I thought it was a disgrace, what he did after the game. Some people have painted it as an emotional outburst, I don’t think it was. When Mo Salah stops in a mixed zone, which he’s done four times in eight years at Liverpool, its choregraphed with him and his agent to cause maximum damage.”

Although many Liverpool fans will not want to admit it, what Salah did was certainly wrong and very selfish, with it being really hard to see how he comes back from this.

Selling him in January might be the only solution or else the club really will be undermining Slot, or any other manager should he be sacked, if they allowed Salah to win in these circumstances.

No player is bigger than the club and at the end of the day, the manager has the final say, so this could be a very sour end for one of the all-time greats.
