He has been punished by being left at home ahead of their Champions League game against Inter Milan, showing just how serious this situation is, but whether a resolution can be found is another matter.

Being left on the bench again will have been one of the main reasons why he was angry at Arne Slot, with the Egyptian clearly feeling that he still has plenty to give.
However, as someone who has played the game, former striker Jermaine Defoe thinks Liverpool have done another thing that will have annoyed him, which is why he did what he did.

Salah has been Liverpool’s star man virtually ever since he joined, with his level of consistency nothing short of sensational.
He proved that last season as well, yet the Reds still spent big in the summer on their attack, with the club clearly thinking that reinforcements were needed.
Defoe thinks this is something that will have frustrated Salah even more, with it clear that signing a star like Alexander Isak means that the baton is slowly being passed on, albeit reluctantly.
“Even in the summer, he’s probably thinking, why are we going to buy a centre-forward for 150 million when you’ve got me?” Defoe said to Stan Sport Football.
“And you got another one? So all of that, do you know what I mean? So you just don’t know. It seems like he’s just emotional at the minute.”

Although he has enough credit in the bank to probably warrant getting more minutes, Salah really has not been good enough this season to react the way he has done.
Of course he can still contribute and play a key role, but he needs to start proving that when on the pitch, with the winger far too quiet in most games this season.
Other players are also more deserving of chances, with Dominik Szoboszlai for example shining when playing on the right instead.
Now, he might have blown his chance altogether and never play for the club again, but instead of sulking, proving Slot wrong on the training pitch should have been his move instead.
