Dejan Lovren sends wordless message to Mo Salah after bombshell Liverpool comments

Mohamed Salah’s current and former teammates have started to give their opinion on this messy situation.

Everyone has now had time to process what has happened at Liverpool now since Salah’s public outburst, but it still continues to dominate the headlines.

The staggering sum Liverpool would save on wages if Mohamed Salah leaves. How would you reinvest it?💰

“As well as Salah’s wages, which reportedly are around £400,000 per week, you’re also looking at a saving in National Insurance contributions. That’s not a trivial sum. National Insurance is set at 15 per cent as of April 2025, so if £400,000 is Salah’s basic weekly wage, Liverpool are also paying another £60,000 on top of that.

“Over the course of 18 months, that’s another £4.7m. The numbers aren’t an exact science, because some of Salah’s wages will be paid as image rights, which are taxed recently.”

It feels like a situation that will rumble on for quite some time, especially with the Egyptian going to AFCON soon, and it would be no surprise to see him stir the pot even further.

One person who has already done this, though, is former Liverpool player Dejan Lovren, with the Croatian sending a message to his former teammate on social media.

Dejan Lovren backs Mohamed Salah

There really seems to be a divide about whether people are team Arne Slot or team Salah, with it feeling very much 50/50.

Lovren, however, has made his feelings clear and has backed the player who he considered his best friend during his time at Anfield, posting just a red love heart and tagging the Egyptian on X.

Although a textless message, it certainly speaks a thousand words, with it being clear that he believes Salah is in the right.

It is no surprise really as the pair were inseparable during their time together at the club, with the defender backing Salah before when previously criticised by the media.

Liverpool fans seem to agree with him in the comments too, showing just how split the fanbase is, and it would be no surprise to see more have their say in the coming days.

Liverpool players still back Arne Slot

Although some current players might agree with Lovren and Salah in private, they clearly back Slot in public, with Alisson proving just that.

Alisson sets the record straight on Slot, but how long will the believe last?

“We believe in his knowledge, we believe in his style of play and that he is capable of helping us turning around this situation.”

He was the representative for Liverpool’s pre-match press conference, and it is safe to say he came across perfectly, summing the situation up very well indeed.

“Do I back Arne Slot? Of course, Yes,” he said.

“Salah not being available is a consequence of what he did. He’s smart enough to know that.

“We have a good relationship for long time, he’s a legend for Liverpool. We will have a conversation but it’s going to be private because it’s personal.”
