Liverpool supporters are being forced to pick between Mohamed Salah and Arne Slot after Salah aired his grievances about being left on the bench during recent matches.
The Egyptian has started Liverpool’s last three games from the bench and failed to appear at all during Saturday’s clash with Leeds United.
This led to Salah explosively talking to the press outside Elland Road, sensationally declaring his disappointment at the current situation and even hinting that he may leave the club in January.

Reading between the lines of the 33-year-old’s comments, he is essentially telling Liverpool to choose either him or Slot.
The Dutch coach has been under pressure anyway recently, and although some supporters see the easy solution as simply getting rid of Slot, Liverpool’s ultimate decision may be even more drastic.

Slot’s position at Liverpool has quickly become untenable with or without Salah‘s comments. However, it is clear that you cannot lose the support of such a senior figure and remain in place.
It may be a little harsh on the 47-year-old given what he achieved with the Reds last year, but things simply have not been good enough. Losing the dressing room is the final straw.

Should Liverpool pull the trigger on Slot, Salah may feel that he has come out on top here.
However, it is also clear that the Egyptian King has been well below his best this season. After Liverpool signed Alexander Isak, Hugo Ekitike and Florian Wirtz, they are aiming to move in a new direction.
That could have involved Salah, and it may have worked in his favour to accept a slightly lesser role in order to preserve his time at Anfield.
But after taking matters into his own hands he has also made his position at the club somewhat untenable. Reports suggest Salah could leave in January, and in order to truly start afresh, Liverpool must sell him alongside relieving Slot of his duties.

Looking at the options here, this really is the only way Liverpool can come out of it intact.
Slot must go, that is abundantly clear, but how can a new manager now arrive and deal with Salah?
If the Egyptian is picked but plays poorly, is he then able to drop him, or will Salah offer the same treatment he has to Slot? Liverpool have also planned for life without their legendary No. 11, and that must continue with a new coach.
It is a sorry way to end what has been one of the best careers in Liverpool history, but Salah has chosen this course very deliberately.
He could have stayed quiet, ridden out the manager’s demise and returned revitalised under a new coach. Instead he has singled himself out as a troublemaker. There is no coming back from that.
