Liverpool could not take many positives from another disappointing result in the Premier League as they drew against Leeds United on Saturday.
The Reds knew they could leap all the way up to fifth in the table with a win, and having gone 2-0 up early in the second-half they were cruising on their way to doing just that.
A late collapse prevented what would have been a precious three points for Liverpool, with questions growing over Arne Slot’s suitability as head coach.
Who was your Man of the Match during the crazy 3-3 draw against Leeds?
Despite the lack of good feeling at full-time, there was one man who really did not deserve to be on the losing side once again: Dominik Szoboszlai.
Szoboszlai provided the best moment of the match for Liverpool, slotting home an excellent finish to put the Reds 3-2 up late on. Having watched footage of the goal back closely, former Liverpool captain Jamie Redknapp even compared the Hungarian to a certain Michael Jordan.
Dominik Szoboszlai finishes off ‘brilliant’ Liverpool move
Featuring two teams incredibly low on confidence, it was not a surprise to see Liverpool’s match against Leeds provide a notable lack of quality.
But Szoboszlai’s goal – Liverpool’s third of the night – was the exception to that. It was a goal crafted in the Reds’ midfield, with Curtis Jones, Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister all involved before Szoboszlai finished.

Reliving the moment on Sky Sports post-game, Redknapp claimed that Szoboszlai’s decision to stick his tongue out as he went through on goal reminded him of all-time basketball legend Jordan.
“It was brilliant,” said the pundit. “Curtis Jones just drops into the back four, he’s very calm. Tanaka engages and that leaves Gravenberch completely free. Mac Allister makes a good run, Gudmundsson has to run with him and that creates the overload. Great over and he finishes it perfectly.
“He’s so calm in that positions. Look, his tongue comes out, he’s calm, he’s like Michael Jordan, he’d always have his tongue out, that concentration.”
As he has all season, Szoboszlai deserved to be on the winning side on Saturday. Unfortunately, he is still searching for his Scottie Pippen at Liverpool and is forced to sit with another agonising draw instead.

Szoboszlai reacts to Liverpool’s collapse at Leeds
If Szoboszlai deserved credit for his performance on the pitch on Saturday, he should also be praised for standing up to be counted off it as well.
The Hungarian was the one Liverpool player who faced the national media straight after the game – Mohamed Salah aside – speaking to Sky Sports about his disbelief at another shocking moment in the Reds’ season.
“I don’t know what happened after 2-0, I think we thought that the game is over,” Szoboszlai said.
In stark contrast to Salah’s comments just shortly after he faced the cameras, the midfielder also wisely claimed that ‘what happens in the changing room stays there’ when asked about how the team have reacted.
“It’s not for the public first of all,” Szoboszlai said. “It’s us, we have to manage it and find solutions. There are times when you have to look at yourself, everybody, go home and ask yourself if you did everything possible.”
Salah would be wise to take that advice.
