Liverpool have been linked with a number of potential replacements for Arne Slot.

During a run of nine defeats from 12, it was claimed that Xabi Alonso would take the Reds job should it become available.

Elsewhere, Oliver Glasner to Liverpool has been mooted as a possibility by some sections of the media and fans.

FSG can easily recoup the cost of sacking Arne Slot with the right replacement 💰

“Let’s say the cost is £15m… That is the amount that you get in prize money for finishing roughly five places higher in the Premier League. Even if you finish one or two places higher than you would have done otherwise but make it into the Champions League as a result, that’s about £80m in extra revenue virtually guaranteed.”

Now, another name has been mentioned as a potential replacement for Slot at Anfield.

Eddie Howe becoming Liverpool manager discussed by Ross Wilson

Eddie Howe joined Newcastle United in November 2021 and has since cemented himself as one of the best English managers in the Premier League.

Howe secured the Magpies their first piece of silverware in the 21st century last season and qualified for the Champions League in 2023/24.

Thanks to his solid spell at St James’ Park, there has been talk about the Englishman taking a more high-profile job elsewhere.

This week, Newcastle Sporting Director Ross Wilson was pressed on the prospect of Howe joining England, or even Liverpool and Manchester City.

As per the Daily Mail, he said: “We have got an outstanding manager here.

“From past experience, I’d certainly rather have one that other people might like, rather than one that nobody likes.”

Eddie Howe on Alexander Isak relationship

Should Liverpool decide to bring Howe to Anfield at some point, he would be reunited with Alexander Isak.

The Swede had a prolific spell at St James’ Park under the 48-year-old, which included scoring 27 and assisting six last season.

However, Isak went on strike over the summer to try and force a move to Liverpool, which Howe admitted changed their relationship.

As per BBC Sport, he said: “Alex and I always enjoyed a great relationship. I loved working with him. I hope he enjoyed working with us.

“It was mutually beneficial. We helped him become the player he in part is today and he helped us as a team achieve some unbelievable milestones and was part of a very successful team.

“The moment he went on strike our relationship did change and that was probably a turning point in our relationship.”
