Liverpool clashed with Nottingham Forest in the Premier League on Saturday, looking to avoid a repeat of last season’s 1-0 defeat.

The Reds went into the fixture aiming to put an end to what has been a torrid run of form in the Premier League.

A rare win over Aston Villa was quickly forgotten when Liverpool were dominated by Manchester City prior to the international break.

Against Nottingham Forest, Arne Slot made several changes to his eleven, with Florian Wirtz and Conor Bradley out due to injury and Alexander Isak starting ahead of Hugo Ekitike.

The Premier League holders, as expected, dominated the tie early on, with Forest more than happy to sit back to try and hit the home team on the break.

Milos Kerkez had one of the best chances in the first half but couldn’t get his effort on target after some brilliant work from Mohamed Salah.

Liverpool fans praise Mohamed Salah vs Nottingham Forest

The Egyptian weaved through a number of Forest players before playing a ball into the box, which deserved a better finish.

After seeing Salah in action on Saturday, Liverpool fans have flooded social media to share their belief that the 33-year-old, after a difficult spell, is now looking back to his best.

One fan wrote: “Salah is feeling like himself again.”

Another fan stated: “Salah on fire man!” with a third adding: “Salah is cooking.”

“This is the Salah we want to see,” another claimed, while a fourth Reds supporter tweeted: “Remnants of the old Salah there.”

A fifth wrote: “Salah might be back this is class. Kerkez has to do better,” and a sixth echoed: “Salah looks like he’s back at his best.”

After seeing him dominating down the right, yet another fan stated: “Salah is back to form, he is cooking,” with another saying: “Salah might be back chat.”

Mohamed Salah Egypt fixture dates

While fans are pleased to see Salah looking much sharper after criticism, he is set to leave Liverpool for a prolonged period in the coming weeks.

Egypt play two FIFA Arab Cup games on December 6 and 9 before kicking off their AFCON campaign on the 22nd of next month versus Zimbabwe.

Their final group fixture comes against Angola on December 29, so at the very minimum, Liverpool will be without their star forward until the end of 2025.

The worst-case scenario for Slot’s men is that Salah reaches the 2026 AFCON final, which takes place on January 18.
