We asked Liverpool fans to vote for their best summer signing of 2025… Jeremie Frimpong look away now

Liverpool supporters were overwhelmingly positive about their summer transfer business when the deadline passed on September 1st.

The Reds had just concluded a record-breaking deal for Alexander Isak, and although Marc Guehi slipped through their grasp, there were plenty of reasons for optimism.

In total, Isak was the eighth first team signing for the Liverpool squad during the summer of 2025.

As well as the Newcastle striker, Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez, Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, Freddie Woodman and Giovanni Leoni all arrived. Giorgi Mamardashvili also joined having spent the 2024/25 season on loan with former club Valencia.

Despite a sensational transfer window on paper, things have since unravelled a little for Liverpool, with question marks arising over most of the new additions.

With the final international break of 2025 now underway, Rousing The Kop thought it would be a good time to ask Liverpool fans to vote for the best signing of the summer. The results make for interesting reading.

Hugo Ekitike voted as Liverpool’s signing of the summer

Having so many new players all arrive in one sitting is completely against the grain for Liverpool.

The previous year, for example, only Federico Chiesa joined during the summer transfer window. A poll such as this was not possible.

This time, we asked fans to pick between the eight senior arrivals for who has been the most successful signing so far.

Unsurprisingly, perhaps, Ekitike won by what can fairly be described as landslide. At the time of writing, 1,372 fans have voted on our signing of the summer poll. Of those, 1,050 have picked Ekitike as their choice. That amounts to a whopping 77%.

Having scored six goals in 16 appearances since his £79m move from Eintracht Frankfurt, the Frenchman has had some supporters questioning the wisdom of signing Isak as well.

Isak picked up just 36 votes, 3% of the overall total, as fans continue to wait for the Swede to catch fire. Fellow £100m+ signing Florian Wirtz fared marginally better, securing 83 votes at 6% of the turnout.

That was enough to place Wirtz in third, behind Ekitike and Giorgi Mamardashvili – who was given the nod by 95 fans to earn 7% of the total. Isak finished in fifth behind Giovanni Leoni, who 53 supporters named as their number one addition. That gave him 4% of the overall vote.

Fans unimpressed with Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez

One of the biggest remits for Arne Slot and Richard Hughes during this summer’s transfer window was to find Liverpool one new full-back on both the left and right side of the defence.

Frimpong was selected for the right-back slot, with a view to playing further forward as well, while Kerkez looked like an exciting choice as a long-term successor to Andy Robertson.

Unfortunately, neither Frimpong nor Kerkez have impressed fans so far, securing a paltry 24 votes between them in RTK’s poll.

The Hungarian fared marginally better, securing 14 votes to Frimpong’s 10, handing him just over 1% of the total vote. Frimpong could not even hit that margin, with his voters turning out in the decimal places.

Humiliatingly, third choice goalkeeper Woodman finished ahead of both. The former Preston man picked up 31 votes, just over 2% of the electorate.

Voting will remain open until the end of the season, when the leaderboard may look more than a little different.
