Liverpool and Celtic have had a bit of a connection over the last few years.
Brendan Rodgers has had two stints in charge of the Bhoys, with the connection between them and Liverpool now becoming more likely to continue.
Rodgers handed in his resignation to Celtic, which means that Martin O’Neill has been put in charge on an interim basis.
However, since the 73-year-old is only going to be in charge for a short period, Celtic are clearly going to be looking for a new permanent boss.

And, even though Rodgers’ resignation was only handed in a couple of days ago, some rumours have already started to emerge about who Celtic’s next manager could be.
Robbie Keane is now on Celtic’s shortlist to become their new manager
Robbie Keane had an immense playing career, which even included a short stint at Liverpool when Rafa Benitez was manager.
However, the vast majority of his career was spent with Tottenham, and even though he was one of the best strikers of his generation, the same can’t be said for his time as a manager.
He’s had three jobs as a manager throughout his career so far, with the Irishman currently in charge of Ferencvaros, with his two previous stints coming as the manager of Maccabi Tel-Aviv and ATK.
And, even though he only joined the Hungarian outfit in 2025, he’s now being linked with the Celtic job.
That is, according to a new report from Ben Jacobs, who shared an update on Celtic’s managerial pursuit.
“Robbie Keane has also made the shortlist to replace Brendan Rodgers at Celtic,” he wrote via his personal X account.
“The former Celtic loanee Keane is currently in charge of Hungarian side Ferencvaros.”
Liverpool could be looking for their own new manager soon
Managerial changes are expected to occur throughout any season.
However, the 2025-26 season seems to have thrown a lot more changes in than usual.
Nottingham Forest have already had three different managers this season, with Ange Postecoglou also being linked with a return to Celtic after failing to make an impact at the City Ground.
And, while no concrete rumours about Slot’s future have emerged yet, after the campaign he had last season, it feels like he should be more than safe, even though Liverpool are out of form.

However, if he fails to win a few games over the next month or so, he could end up on the chopping block.
Indeed, it’s still going to take time for some of his new signings, such as Florian Wirtz, to get to their best, but now we’re a couple of months into the season, you’d be hoping that at some point soon, everything will start falling into place.
