Troy Deeney reckons Arne Slot is about to make a really brutal decision at Liverpool

Arne Slot has a lot of thinking to do as he looks to get Liverpool back to where they belong.

The Reds’ title defence has not exactly got off to the best of starts, with four losses on the bounce, three of these in the league, leaving them in fourth.

Of course, this is not a time to panic as they are just four points behind league leaders Arsenal with 30 games left to play, although performances will need to quickly improve to keep pace with them.

Slot might be thinking about making some drastic changes too as, right now, nothing seems to be working, although whatever he chooses is bound to upset someone.

However, Troy Deeney reckons that he might be about to make a brutal choice to try and benefit the team, and it is safe to say that it will be very brave if he does.

Troy Deeney reckons Mohamed Salah will be dropped

One of the biggest talking points so far this season has been about the performances of Mohamed Salah, with the Egyptian really struggling to find any sort of form.

He has just two league goals and missed a load of chances, although his work rate has also come under fire due to Liverpool’s defensive frailties.

There have been calls for Salah to be dropped, highlighting just how poor he has been, and Deeney thinks that Slot might be about to do just that.

“I think Salah’s been getting like a little bit of like money in the bank,” he said on The Football Exchange.

“Like credit in the bank because of what he did last year and the years before, which he rightly he should do.

“But I can see him dropping him this week.”

He has already been dropped once this season when the Reds played Galatasaray, with this in itself a huge talking point.

But with his performances simply not good enough or showing any signs of improvement, this could be the first time where Salah sees himself on the bench for a run of games.

Jamie Carragher thinks Mohamed Salah should start on the bench twice this week

Almost everyone has had their say on this matter but Jamie Carragher has tried to be a little more rational than most.

The former Liverpool star understands that Salah has been not good enough, but dropping him altogether is not the way forward.

Instead, Carragher suggested he starts on the bench in away games due to the atmosphere and the Reds likely not being in complete control of the game.

This means that with Liverpool away to both Eintracht Frankfurt and Brentford this week, the Egyptian, by this logic, would start both on the bench, something that would have not been seen before
