Gabby Agbonlahor says Luis Diaz is in the ‘form of his life’ after leaving Liverpool

Luis Diaz has been lauded by Gabby Agbonlahor after his recent performances for Bayern Munich.

The former Liverpool attacker chose to exit Anfield in the summer transfer window with a fee worth around £65.5million, enough for the reigning Bundesliga champions to prise him away.

At the time, most Liverpool fans expected this to be one of the Reds’ smartest moves of the window, but in reality, that feels like it’s been far from the case.

Diaz has quickly become one of Vincent Kompany’s most important players and is likely one of the first names on his team sheet alongside Harry Kane and Michael Olise.

Arne Slot did manage to replace him with a couple of transfers, but Agbonlahor still thinks that the attacker is playing better than he ever did for Liverpool at the moment.

Diaz’s performances for Liverpool last season were among the best in Slot’s team.

Indeed, Mohamed Salah managed to outshine the Colombian as he contributed to over 50 goals across all competitions, but Diaz also left his mark.

The attacker was used on the left wing as well as in the number nine position, but no matter where he was played, he always gave it his all.

And now, while speaking live on talkSPORT, Agbonlahor has shared his thoughts on the attacker and the current run of form he’s found himself in.

“I mean four losses in a row [for Liverpool], Diaz is in the form of his life at Bayern Munich by the way,” he said.

“He was unbelievable against Dortmund. And you look at that decision to let him go, and then you spend £116 million on Wirtz. It’s not working.”

Liverpool should have kept Luis Diaz and moved Cody Gakpo on in the summer

Although Diaz and Cody Gakpo both contributed to a similar number of goals for Liverpool last season, it’s now clear that the Colombian was far more important to the team.

Gakpo has been in decent form for Liverpool this season, but his performance against Manchester United on Sunday was miles away from where it needed to be.

He hit the post three or four times, and although he finally bagged his goal late in the game, he ended up missing an absolute sitter towards the end of the clash that could’ve brought Liverpool level once again.

Diaz may not have been as consistent as fans wanted him to be, but when he was on form, his talent was undeniable.

His ability to change a game in an instant is also something that Liverpool miss, which is why it feels like Slot may have chosen to sell the wrong left-winger in the summer.
