Sir Alex Ferguson once revealed what Jurgen Klopp did to him after Liverpool’s league title in 2020

Jurgen Klopp is undoubtedly going to be a fan favourite among Liverpool supporters for life.

The German came into a rather broken team and managed to turn them into one of the best in the world during his Anfield stint.

In fact, he did such a good job in charge of Liverpool that, during Arne Slot’s first season in charge, he managed to come away with the Premier League title.

The former Borussia Dortmund manager managed to break the Reds’ 30-year curse of not winning the Premier League and turned the club and the city from doubters to believers.

And, when the title in 2020 was finally confirmed to be Liverpool’s, Sir Alex Ferguson shared what Klopp did to him.

Jurgen Klopp woke Sir Alex Ferguson up at 3:30 am to tell him he’d won the Premier League title

Ever since Liverpool won the 2019-20 Premier League title, Klopp’s name will be forever etched into the Reds’ history books.

Of course, a lot of his success was due to the trio of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino, and Sadio Mane, but there’s no hiding from the fact that the German woke a sleeping giant.

And, while speaking to Football Daily back in 2020, former Manchester United boss Ferguson shared what Klopp did to him after it was announced that Liverpool had won the title.

“Liverpool, 30 years since winning that league, incredible, they really thoroughly deserved it,” he said.

“The performance level of your team was outstanding.

“Your personality went right through the whole club. I think it was a marvellous performance.

“I’ll forgive you for waking me up at half past three in the morning to tell me you’d won the league, thank you, but anyway, you thoroughly deserved it.

“Well done.”

Arne Slot now needs to make all of Jurgen Klopp’s hard work at Liverpool worthwhile

Although Slot may have won the Premier League title last season, he needs to ensure that, over a long period of time, Liverpool stay dominant.

Because, while the title win last season was immense, the fact that the club have just lost three games in a row to teams such as Galatasaray and Crystal Palace is a slight cause for concern.

Indeed, they have spent £450million to try and improve their ranks, which is likely why they haven’t been at their best yet, but you’d be expecting to see improvement across the board right now.

However, if anything, it feels like the Reds have regressed, which is far from ideal.

So, upon the first-team squad’s return from the October international break, it feels like the Dutchman needs to make a statement with Liverpool; otherwise, all of Klopp’s effort would end up being for nothing.
