Liverpool have massively changed their team this summer.

Arne Slot and Richard Hughes chose to spend over £450million on new players to try and improve their ranks.

That is, despite managing to win the Premier League title by 10 points last season.

And, while some transfers have worked out for the better, there are some which still have question marks hanging over them.

However, that hasn’t stopped rumours emerging for potential transfer targets in future windows.

Liverpool have often been late to the party when it comes to South American talent.

The Reds have often had to pay a premium price for players they could’ve got for much less if they’d have just managed to find them sooner.

However, that doesn’t seem to be the case now, with Liverpool interested in signing 16-year-old Brazilian goalkeeper Gabriel Menegon.

And, a new report from Brazilian outlet Radio Itatiaia has now shared that the ‘keeper has a release clause worth around £4.2million.

This comes after the youngster’s contract renewal at Gremio.

Although the report shares that there were ‘no official offers’ for the goalkeeper, the fact that he now has a release clause means that Liverpool could make a move.

At the moment, he stands at 1.96m tall (6ft4in), which, for a person who is only 16 years old, is rather staggering.

Do Liverpool really need another young goalkeeper?

During the 2025-26 summer transfer window, Liverpool brought in Hungarian youngster Armin Pecsi.

The ‘keeper is yet to play a game for the Anfield outfit, but with him also being just 20 years old, it’s clear that this was a move for the future.

Liverpool also have Vitezslav Jaros, who currently finds himself on loan to Ajax, and, since he’s a similar age to Giorgi Mamardashvili, it feels like the goalkeeper position is locked down for years to come.

Although the arrival of Menegon would be exciting, it feels like it would be a pointless move for Liverpool at the moment, especially with all the talent they already have between the sticks.

For now, it’s anyone’s guess what could happen, but with the way things have panned out thus far, it’s clear from just the signings that Slot has made this season that the future is always on his mind.
