As mentioned, the Reds’ poor form over the last week or so has quickly become a massive concern.
Liverpool spent over £400million on improving their first-team squad in the summer, and at the moment, it feels like they were better off last term.
Of course, some players, such as Hugo Ekitike, have been a breath of fresh air around the camp, but others, such as Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez, have been poor.
And now, ahead of the Premier League clash between Liverpool and Chelsea on Saturday, Shearer has shared his thoughts on the game and the thing that Slot’s men cannot do against Enzo Maresca’s this weekend.
“It’s a great game. Liverpool can’t lose three on the spin – they’re the defending champions and pre-season title favourites,” he said to the Metro.
“If Chelsea lose three league games on the spin, Maresca is under huge pressure as well.
“I’ll probably sit on the fence because of the importance of both teams not losing the game, prediction: draw.”

Although every club is allowed the odd bad performance here and there, the fact that two have come in a row for Liverpool is far from ideal.
Going into the 2025-26 season, the Anfield outfit were expected to run away with the Premier League and perhaps even come out on top in the Champions League.
Although they may be at the top of the Premier League table at the moment, it feels like their performances are going in a downward spiral.
Indeed, the Reds’ new arrivals will still need time to gel with one another, but after the international break, it’ll feel like that excuse is getting old.
If Liverpool can start October off with a win against the Blues, it would be the perfect way for things to have panned out, and it would also allow Slot to study his team’s recent performances and figure out the best way to shore up his ranks for the rest of the season.
