Theo Walcott claims Liverpool have a £34m player who’s better than Gareth Bale

Liverpool’s current squad might not be performing but it is stacked with top talent.

The Reds had an immense summer in the transfer market and filled their team to the brim with some of Europe’s elite.

It might not be clicking into place just yet, but with what Arne Slot has at his disposal, it seems highly unlikely that this will not happen soon.

Not only have they added quality, but they have kept some of their best players around, often something that can be classed as the best business possible.

There was one star in particular who looked like he might be departing towards the back end of last season but they managed to keep him around against all odds, and Theo Walcott reckons he is even better than Gareth Bale was in his prime.

When Mohamed Salah first arrived for just £34m, many thought it would be a decent signing but some were a little sceptical as he flopped at Chelsea not too long before.

However, no one could have imagined what he would go on to achieve, with the Egyptian one of Liverpool’s and the Premier League’s best ever players.

In fact, he is probably considered as one of the best wingers football has ever seen, and Walcott strongly thinks that he was much better than Bale too.

When doing a blind ranking for GOAL’s TikTok, Walcott ranked Salah as the second best creator the Premier League has seen.

He put him above Bale, Eden Hazard and Son Heung-min, while ranking David Silva first due to that being the only spot he had left to choose from.

But afterwards, he admitted that if he could pick the order based on knowing all the options, he would have put Salah top, backing him as the best Premier League creator of all time.

How do Mohamed Salah and Gareth Bale compare?

Both wingers would be considered world-class in their own right, but many would say that Salah is levels above Bale despite the trophies the Welshman won.

This is proven statistically too as Salah has contributed far more than Bale did throughout his career, although injuries did disrupt his progress.

In terms of Premier League career, though, Salah is very much superior due to his longevity, as well as lifting the title twice.

In terms of all-time greats, both of these players will be remembered fondly, but as Walcott suggested, Salah’s legacy might just be a little bit stronger.
