Liverpool have been in some fine form since the Premier League season kicked off.
Going into the 2025-26 campaign, Liverpool were expected to be a dominant force once again and, to be honest, there isn’t a team in the top flight who has played better than them yet.
Indeed, Crystal Palace are also unbeaten in the Premier League, but once Saturday’s game comes around, the Anfield outfit could be the only team without a loss to their name.
However, seeing as though Hugo Ekitike got red-carded against Southampton, the Frenchman is set to miss out on the game against the Eagles, which means they’ll have to rely on Federico Chiesa and Alexander Isak to lead their attacking line.
The worst thing about Ekitike’s sending off was that it was all his own fault; the striker had already received a yellow card due to dissent, and after scoring the winner against Will Still’s men, he decided to celebrate scoring by taking his shirt off.

This led to Slot calling the striker “stupid” in his post-match press conference, which left Stan Collymore in awe of the Dutchman.
Stan Collymore believes Arne Slot’s reaction to Hugo Ekitke’s sending off was perfect
Whenever a manager’s player does something wrong, they’re often the first ones to back them up and brush it off.
However, it was made clear on Tuesday that Slot isn’t going to handle things that way while he’s in charge of Liverpool.
He hit out at the striker while clearly stating the point he was trying to make, which, to be honest, was rather refreshing.
And, taking to his personal X account, Collymore shared his thoughts on the way Slot reacted.
“Love this,” he wrote.
” [It’s] proof he’s not only the right man to lead the Reds long term but that he can make his point, get the player to think and learn all in a calm and collected manner that demands respect.”
Hugo Ekitike must learn from his mistakes and get hold of his emotions
Ekitike has undoubtedly been one of Liverpool’s best players this season.
The striker has slotted into the Reds’ first-team squad without any sort of fuss and has managed to help Liverpool win multiple games this term.
Crystal Palace are the only team that Slot’s men have lost to this season, which makes Saturday’s game all the more scary.

Ekitike being absent from the clash will be a massive miss for Liverpool, but it will give Isak and Chiesa a chance to prove that they also deserve to start games.
At the moment, it’s anyone’s guess what could happen, but for now, it feels like this will just need to be a lesson that the former Eintracht Frankfurt man learns from in the future.
