Liverpool are beating Everton 1-0 in the first Merseyside derby of the 2025-26 season.
The Reds are in the form of their lives at the moment, with no other teams coming close to the performances they’re putting in.
Indeed, a lot of their wins have come thanks to last-minute winners, such as Virgil van Dijk’s against Atletico Madrid, but against the Toffees, things seem to be going swimmingly.

Of course, there’s still another 45 minutes left for things to change, but with the technique that it took Ryan Gravenberch to score the opener, it’s not a surprise to see Ally McCoist gobsmacked by it.
Ryan Gravenberch’s opener for Liverpool leaves Ally McCoist in awe
Gravenberch has undoubtedly been one of Arne Slot’s best players since he took over last season.
The Dutchman has been in fine form over the last year or so, and at the moment, there’s no other Premier League defensive midfielder close to him.
He played almost every game for Liverpool last term, with the same situation occurring in the 2025-26 campaign.
And, during the Merseyside derby, Gravenberch left both Anfield and McCoist in awe of the opening goal he scored.
“My goodness, what a goal! I can’t tell you how difficult that technique is you know,” McCoist said on TNT Sports.
“The ball is going across him, not a lot of pace, but he just meets it on the half volley, he keeps it going, it’s an absolutely tremendous goal. This is absolutely magical.
“That is such a difficult technique, meets it on the bounce and keeps it the way it’s going.
“Wow, brilliant. It’s actually spinning away from him as well to make it more difficult, and he knows exactly what he’s doing. Beautiful.”
Liverpool must keep their performance at this level in the second half
One thing that has been made clear about Liverpool this season is that they’re in it to win it.
The Reds are sitting on top of the Premier League table and haven’t even given Everton a chance to get into the game.
Of course, their Merseyside rivals have had the odd chance here and there, but thanks to the performances of players such as Conor Bradley and Ibrahima Konate, they’ve managed to keep Everton quiet.

Although the Reds were on top throughout the first half, things can obviously change after the half-time break, but, in reality, it’s clear that Liverpool have too much quality among their ranks for David Moyes to beat them.
At the moment, it’s anyone’s guess how things could pan out, but the fact that Liverpool have Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak ready to be subbed on shows that it’s going to be near-impossible for Liverpool to lose
