Liverpool are readying themselves to face Everton in their next Premier League game.
The Reds have a perfect record in the top flight at the moment, with Arne Slot’s men having 12 points to their name.
They’ve already faced some tough opponents this season, such as Arsenal and Newcastle, but on the face of things, it feels like the Toffees could end up being their toughest yet.
The Anfield outfit are also coming off the back of a Champions League victory over Atletico Madrid, where they beat Diego Simeone’s men 3-2 thanks to a 91st-minute header from Virgil van Dijk.
And, although they may be a tad fatigued from the mid-week clash, the fact that James Garner is likely to be playing at left-back is a massive boost for the club.

That is, especially since Mohamed Salah will be the player on the right wing for Liverpool.
David Moyes says that Vitalii Mykolenko is still a doubt for Everton v Liverpool
One thing that has hindered Everton’s progress over the last couple of years is the lack of depth they have in defence.
Indeed, the club have got the likes of Jarrad Branthwaite and James Tarkowski to choose from, but since the former of the two always seems to be on the sidelines, they’re always a man down.
Seamus Coleman and Mykolenko often suffer the same fate, which leaves players such as Jake O’Brien having to play out of position.
And, ahead of the Merseyside derby, David Moyes has provided an update on the fitness of some of his players, with Garner getting a special mention from the Scotsman.
“They’re making progress [Branthwaite and Mykolenko]. We have a couple of other knocks, but we’ll see how they are,” he said.
Later in the press conference, Moyes was asked about Garner’s recent form, to which he said the following: “I think Jimmy’s playing as well as any player at the moment; as well as any English midfield player at the moment.
“Ultimately, I think his form has been very good.”
Liverpool need to prove their dominance over Everton once again
In Liverpool and Everton’s last five meetings, the Reds have won three times, with their last victory over their rivals coming on 2 April 2025.
Indeed, they have also lost once in their last five games, with that being Jurgen Klopp’s last-ever derby.
However, now that the Anfield outfit have spent over £400million on new players, it’s clear that if they don’t beat the Toffees, they’ll never live it down.

Of course, this is arguably the best form that Everton have been in over the last couple of seasons, with players such as Jack Grealish and Iliman Ndiaye impressing.
However, now that Alexander Isak has made his Liverpool debut and players such as Jeremie Frimpong are finally settling in, Saturday’s game should be a walk in the park for Slot’s men.
