Alexander Isak made his long-awaited Liverpool debut against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday.
The Reds ended up winning the game 3-2 thanks to a last-minute winner from Virgil van Dijk.
In all of Liverpool’s games that they’ve won this season, they’ve ended up coming out on top in the dying embers of the game, with Van Dijk’s towering header another example of that.
However, as much as Liverpool fans will enjoy the last-minute winners, their fans will likely want the odd game here and there to be a little simpler.

And, now that Isak has made his debut, it feels like they could be about to get that due to his keen eye for goal and the point he’ll have to prove after being bought for £125million.
Alexander Isak may have been frustrated because he wasn’t the main outlet for Liverpool
One thing that has been made clear at Liverpool over the last few years is that Mohamed Salah is the main man.
The Egyptian King has been the main reason that Liverpool have been so dominant over the last few years, with the winger scoring most of the Anfield outfit’s goals.
Last term was the best of his career, with the attacker contributing to over 50 goals across all competitions.
And, seeing as though he’s been the Reds’ main outlet for the last few years, it’s going to take some time for him to get used to having players such as Isak around him.
However, since Isak is coming from a team where he was the focal point, Stan Collymore believes the Sweden international may have been a tad frustrated on his debut.

“Watching Isak closely tonight. Some early thoughts,” he wrote via his personal X account.
“Like Haaland at City, he’s going to have to get used to fox in the box mode rather than ball over the top or being found early because every team visiting Anfield will drop off, so he’s going to have to get used to the discipline of getting in the box and sometimes not seeing the ball as much as he did at Newcastle.
“He’ll be frustrated 25 mins in that despite Liverpool’s quick start, he’s not been the main outlet. No surprises who is but any striker coming in as a record transfer while Salah is around is going to have to play second fiddle.
“So his work in the box and around the box has to be super focused because the temptation will be to drop off looking for the ball or taking up wide positions.
“He’s pointed 5 times where he wants it so far, clear instruction to a passer where he wants it. At Newcastle he’d get it 3 of those times, at Liverpool he may get none because Salah and Wirtz will get a lot of those balls.
“Another reason to not get down and keep making the runs. Eventually he’ll strike up a connection with someone but it may take time.
“Overall, good movement, pacing himself through the half, waiting to connect with someone who’ll see his runs.”
Alexander Isak and Mohamed Salah could end up being dangerous for Liverpool
Although players such as Darwin Nunez may not have been at the same quality as Isak, the fact that he knew how to play with Salah benefited both players.
Both knew when and where one another would be, and although on paper Liverpool look far stronger now, if Salah and Isak don’t end up getting along, it could be a massive problem for the Anfield outfit.
In reality, it should end up being a lot better for Salah as he’ll have a player alongside him who’s unlikely to miss when given a chance on goal.

One thing is for certain, however, as long as the Egyptian is around, he’ll not want to play second fiddle, so Isak will have to get used to that, for now at least.
At the moment, it’s anyone’s guess what could happen, but with the way things have panned out thus far, it’s unclear whether the two will get along or not.
