Arne Slot made one substitution after Milos Kerkez that will be a big concern for Liverpool fans

Arne Slot really did show his ruthless side during Liverpool’s meeting with Burnley.

The Reds returned from the international break with a rather lacklustre performance away from home, but just like previous weeks, they got the job done.

To win the Premier League again, however, many players need to step up, with Milos Kerkez in particular having a game to forget after being substituted just 38 minutes into the game.

Saying this, there was another substitution that Slot was all but forced into making, with this one, arguably, being more of a concern than Kerkez’s not long before.

Alexis Mac Allister forced off with an injury

The international break is a worrying time for fans and teams alike, with everyone hoping that players return fresh and free from injury.

Luckily for the Reds, no one came back with anything new, but some did struggle with recurring problems that simply will not go away.

Alexis Mac Allister was one of these but he was passed fit in time for Liverpool’s trip to Turf Moor, although he did not last very long at all.

After a poor challenge on him from Lesley Ugochukwu, the Argentine required treatment and struggled to carry on.

He managed to last until half-time, however, but Slot took no risks and decided to substitute him at the break.

Whether this was forced or just precautionary is yet to be seen, but either way it will be a huge worry as the road back to full fitness for the midfielder appears to have hit another stumbling block.

With Curtis Jones also injured, the Dutchman decided to push Dominik Szoboszlai into his more natural midfield position, while bringing on Conor Bradley at right-back.

Liverpool need Alexis Mac Allister fully fit quickly

There is no denying that Liverpool are a much better team when Mac Allister is fully fit, but that has not managed to happen so far this season.

The 26-year-old has been far from his best so far this season, with this a key reason as to why the Reds have not been the most convincing in their performances.

But, Liverpool fans need him back as soon as possible as the Reds have five more games in September, meaning they need as many options as they can get.

Up next is Atletico Madrid, a game that could pass Liverpool by very quickly if performances continue the way they are.
