Liverpool ace dubbed the ‘best’ player for his country in international break

Liverpool had a lot of their players away on international duty over the last week or so.

The Reds were one of the strongest teams in the world last season, so it isn’t a surprise to see their players being whisked away on international duty by their countries.

Some, such as Conor Bradley, have even announced themselves as options for Arne Slot in ways that he may not have initially thought about using them.

Whereas others, such as Dominik Szoboszlai, may not have earned all the results they deserve, but they still more than proved their worth after the recent form they’ve been in.

However, in the case of one Liverpool player, he’s been dubbed the ‘best’ performing player of the international break for his country.

Alisson left Brazilian media in awe over his ‘solid’ performances for his country

Alisson is, without doubt, one of the best goalkeepers in the world.

Indeed, he may have the odd problem here and there with injuries, but since the Reds have a player of Giorgi Mamardashvili’s quality as his back-up, they’re likely not all that worried about his injury history.

Since he joined Liverpool from Roma back in 2018, the Brazilian quickly established himself as one of the best ‘keepers in the world with his reaction time unmatched by any of his competitors.

He also has inch-perfect distribution and, according to GE, he was ‘solid’ for Brazil in their 1-0 defeat against Bolivia.

“He avoided a heavier defeat. Bolivia relied on long-range shots, taking advantage of the altitude, but the goalkeeper was solid,” they wrote.

“The toughest save came at the 41st minute of the second half, from a header by Algarañaz. He guessed the right corner of the penalty but could not stop the ball.”

Brazilian outlet CBF.com also echoed this, with the website even dubbing Alisson as the ‘best’ player for Brazil throughout the entire international break.

“The game was quite atypical. The ball slid with great speed and escaped from the feet of the Brazilians frequently,” they wrote.

“Bolivia needed to win to try to find a place in the World Cup in the repechage.

“That’s why she risked several long-distance kicks from the beginning, pushed by her fans. 

“In the first half, Alisson was the best on the field, with safe defenses, not letting himself be betrayed by the unusual strength of the ball in the opponents’ finishes.”

One of the most important areas of the pitch for a football team is the goalkeeper.

Although they have 10 other players in front of them, once the opposition gets through, a ‘keeper is the last line of defence.

Indeed, Alisson may have cost Liverpool around £66.8million to bring to Anfield in 2018, but with the performances he’s put in since joining, he’s been worth every penny.

In the 2025-26 season so far, Alisson has been in impressive form, but others, such as Ibrahima Konate, have left a lot to be desired.

Slot has spent over £400million on trying to improve his ranks this summer, but unless Alisson continues his good run of form, it will have all been spent for nothing.

At the moment, it’s anyone’s guess how the season is going to pan out, but with the likes of Ally McCoist already predicting Arsenal to win the Champions League, it seems like Slot has a lot to prove once again.
