Liverpool growing in confidence over Marc Guehi signing as medical details emerge

Liverpool have ended up having one of the most incredible transfer windows of all time.

Granted, they’ve spent a hefty chunk of change on improving their ranks this summer, with every player they’ve brought in being an upgrade on the ones they’ve replaced.

It was clear that, even though the Reds came away with the Premier League title last season that upgrades were needed across the board if Liverpool were to try and retain their title this term.

Arne Slot will also want to make a better name for himself in the Champions League after his first-team squad were knocked out in the Round of 16 by the eventual winners, Paris Saint-Germain.

And, now that we’re entering the final few hours of the summer transfer window, Liverpool’s final moves are finally starting to fall into place.

Marc Guehi is now likely to join Liverpool as potential U-turn avoided

Over the last couple of weeks, the futures of Marc Guehi and Alexander Isak have dominated the transfer headlines.

Most rival fans expected Liverpool to get the transfer of Isak over the line, but barely anyone thought that Guehi would also be making the switch to Anfield.

Now, however, as per a report from Ben Jacobs via his personal X account, it seems like Liverpool are going to get their man.

“BREAKING EXCLUSIVE: Liverpool now confident of finalising a deal for Marc Guehi,” he wrote.

“Agreement expected to happen, but it’s a race against time. Medical will take place in London should a transfer get done.”

Liverpool should be impossible to beat now that they’re set to sign Marc Guehi and Alexander Isak

Not only will Liverpool be welcoming Guehi to their club on 1 September, but, as mentioned, they’ve also managed to agree a £125million deal for the transfer of Isak from Newcastle.

The Sweden international has been Liverpool’s number one attacking target since the summer transfer window opened at the start of June, and although they paid a little over the £120million that they wanted to spend on him, it’s likely to be money well spent.

Unfortunately for Liverpool’s fans, they won’t be able to see their new additions in action before the window slams shut due to the international break, but the fact that their first game back is against Burnley means that there’s likely to be fireworks.

Of course, only time will tell whether all of Liverpool’s new players will be able to gel with one another, but if they do, it’s genuinely hard to think of a team that could beat them this term.

Those are also the exact thoughts of former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand, who, after the Reds’ 1-0 win against Arsenal, admitted that it would be “over” if Liverpool signed both Guehi and Isak on deadline day.
