Liverpool fans think Arne Slot may have made a big mistake this summer as training clip goes viral

Liverpool fans will have to wait to see how the next week-and-a-half pans out before rating their transfer window overall.

By this point of the summer, the Reds are usually done with their business, at least in terms of new buys. But this time things are very different.

Liverpool still hope to sign Alexander Isak, while the possibility of Marc Guehi joining cannot be ruled out either. Those two additions would make it an exceptionally good window for Arne Slot.

If neither are signed, or only one of the two, then things may take on a different feeling.

As ever, some slightly contentious sales will play a part in that. Some did not want Luis Diaz to leave, for example, especially without a direct replacement, while the wisdom of letting Jarell Quansah go was also debated by some.

Another exit which could end up coming back to bite Liverpool is that of Tyler Morton, who joined Lyon in a reported £15m deal. But while it was clear that Morton needed to move on, fans have been left questioning that reality after a clip of the 22-year-old training with Lyon went viral.

Liverpool fans want Tyler Morton return

Having played only five times for Liverpool last season, it was clear that Morton needed to find a permanent home this summer.

Interestingly, the Liverpool academy graduate joined Lyon and has instantly commanded a place in the starting line-up.

He also seems to be doing brilliantly in training, and after fans clocked onto a clip of Morton sinking four beautiful shots in a row, some have decided that Slot should have kept him.

“Think this’ll be one we end up regretting. No one’s convincing me that Jones is better than him,” someone said, with another simply adding: “Bring him back LFC.”

“What a mistake we’ve made. Match-going fans loved him,” another fan added. “Someone please tell me he has a buy back clause,” one more pleaded.

“I will never forgive you for not giving him or Stefan [Bajcetic] a chance, Arne,” someone else aimed towards Slot.

“Like I said, he’s one of the best we’ve ever produced. We let go of a Rolls-Royce,” another supporter bemoaned.

“Tyler Morton will be star at Lyon and it’s so upsetting that Arne didn’t look to use him,” one more agreed, with a final, positive thought of: “Love to see our kids flourish. Hope he kills it this season. Looks happy.”

Do Liverpool have a buyback on Morton?

As Liverpool remain without a suitable back-up for Ryan Gravenberch, it is a shame that Morton could not have been afforded a bigger role by Slot.

However, it is brilliant to see the Merseysider doing well having made a move to a big European club.

To answer supporters’ question on whether Liverpool have a buy-back clause over Morton, though, it seems as though they may be disappointed.

As per the Liverpool ECHO when the midfielder was sold, there is no mention of Liverpool being able to buy Morton back in the future at a discount rate.

The Reds are said to have a 20% sell-on clause if Morton is sold in the future, but if they do want to take him back to Anfield, it seems they’ll have to pay full price.
