Liverpool are coming off the back of an impressive season where they managed to come away with the Premier League title.
Indeed, they didn’t likely do as well as they would’ve wanted in the Champions League last term, but the fact they were knocked out by the eventual winners, Paris Saint-Germain, says a lot about the draw they were given.
This season, things seem to be a little different at Anfield, with Arne Slot already spending over £200million on improving their ranks so that they can continue to grow and compete with the best teams in the world.

However, as the 2025-26 season is about to kick off, there are still a couple of things that need to be ironed out before the campaign gets fully underway.
Fabio Borini believes Mohamed Salah should win the PFA Player of the Year award
Mohamed Salah was Liverpool’s best player last season by a country mile.
The Egyptian King, who cost Liverpool £34.3million to sign back in 2017, contributed to 57 goals across all competitions last season, and without him, it’s clear that Liverpool would have been nowhere near as dominant.
As a result of his impressive performances, Salah has been put up against five other Premier League players to earn the player of the season award, with Alexander Isak being among those nominated.
However, when asked who he believes should win the award, former Liverpool ace Fabio Borini simply replied “Salah,” showing that he believes the Egyptian was a better player than Isak last term.
Mohamed Salah and Alexander Isak could form a dynamic partnership this season
Everyone knows that Isak has been Liverpool’s number one target since the transfer window opened in June.
The striker suits Slot’s system perfectly, and although Ekitike has already been brought in to cover the departure of Darwin Nunez, the Frenchman could be used on the left wing if needed.
Isak is one of the best strikers in the world, and with players such as Salah and Florian Wirtz setting him up each week, it’s hard to see how he wouldn’t become even better than he already is.
At the moment, it’s unclear when or if Liverpool are going to make a move for the Sweden international, but if they do, they’ll easily be one of the best teams in the world.

Of course, only time will tell what the future has in store, but for now, it feels like Isak is closer to making the move than he is staying at St James’ Park.
That is, especially after Isak has said that he’ll never play for Newcastle ever again.
