Liverpool fans have one big reason why they do not want to sign Bradley Barcola this summer

The last three weeks of Liverpool’s transfer window are set to be exciting as they aim to wrap up some key deals.

Supporters have been treated to an excellent summer of spending so far, with deals being done to secure Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez.

But Liverpool will not stop there. After Darwin Nunez was given permission to fly to Germany for a medical with Al Hilal on Thursday, the Reds were confirmed to be looking into new attacking signings.

Alexander Isak remains the top target for Liverpool, but rumours have also started to surface that the Reds are keen on PSG’s Bradley Barcola.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Liverpool will not buy Isak and Barcola, with the Frenchman seemingly a back-up plan in case Newcastle shut the door on their star striker.

And as Liverpool supporters digest the possibility of signing Barcola this summer, many have decided there is one key reason they do not want him.

Liverpool fans do not want Rio Ngumoha pathway blocked

Isak and Barcola are obviously very different players. The former is very much a central striker, with the latter clearly a left sided forward.

Having sold Luis Diaz to Bayern Munich, Liverpool are a little light on the left side. But after youngster Rio Ngumoha emerged with a bang in pre-season, supporters have decided they do not want to see his pathway blocked by a big new signing.

“I love Barcola but I’m not taking him if it affects Rio’s breakthrough,” one fan posted. “Love Barcola but the club cannot actively block Rio’s path to consistent first team minutes,” added another.

“Good player but pretty random to be honest,” someone else chimed in. “We need a striker way more than we need a winger. Especially with the upcoming Rio already doing bits, Barcola seems a bit random.”

“I will say the Barcola link wouldn’t make all that much sense,” was another supporter’s view. “Gakpo is our starting LW and the club are rightfully so in love with Rio.”

“Is the Barcola thing likely?” posed someone else. “Doubt the club wants to put another player in the way of Rio Ngumoha with the start he’s had. Possibly threatening Newcastle that we’ll spend the money elsewhere if things don’t kick on with Isak?”

“Who needs Barcola, we’ve got Rio Ngumoha,” another fan claimed, with yet one more suggesting that “Barcola ain’t better than Rio.”

“Don’t waste £100m on Barcola – We have Rio Ngumoha ready to shine,” was one fan’s verdict, summing up the general mood.

Liverpool do not need Bradley Barcola

Although fans are right to point out what a good player Barcola is – he bagged 41 goal contributions in 64 appearances last season – Liverpool do need to be careful here.

As he has shown in pre-season, Ngumoha is a sensational talent. With Diaz gone, his pathway to the first team is clear.

But add in another big-money signing like Barcola, and he will instantly be shunted back down the pecking order.

If all goes well with Ngumoha then he could become an even better player than the PSG man. Liverpool need to nurture that, not put more obstacles in the way.

So, while Barcola would undoubtedly be an exciting signing, the Reds simply do not need him this summer.
