Since Robbie Fowler retired, his career hasn’t been the best.

The former Liverpool talisman has spent most of his time managing clubs in smaller leagues such as Muangthong United and East Bengal.

His most recent venture into management was in the Saudi Pro League with Al-Qadsiah, with his term only ending prematurely as the board wished to see a different style of play from their first-team squad.

Now that Fowler is without a job, he’s likely looking for his next project, but the latest rumours to have emerged are rather strange.

Robbie Fowler and Harry Kewell have applied for the Indian national team job

Although Fowler’s managerial history isn’t the best, he’d still likely be able to get a job with a lower league team in England if he wanted one.

Harry Kewell’s time in management has been much more successful with the Australian managing Crawley, Celtic and Yokohoma F. Marinos thus far.

In fact, the former Liverpool attacker even managed to get Yokohoma F. Marinos to the AFC Champions League final, but that still wasn’t enough for him to keep his job.

However, as per a new report from The Times of India, it seems like both Fowler and Kewell have applied for the India national team job.

The report shares that although there was a ‘flurry’ of applications in the first few days, Fowler and Kewell were the biggest names to have applied.

The AIFF hasn’t released the official list of applicants, but those in the ‘know’ have confirmed that Fowler and Kewell are among the applicants.

Steven Gerrard has done the best out of all three former Liverpool players

Although Steven Gerrard’s time in management is often overlooked by many, it’s clear that he’s had a much more successful run after his retirement than his former Liverpool teammates.

The Englishman managed to deliver number 55 to Rangers and, while his time with Aston Villa wasn’t the best, his time in the Scottish Premiership proves that he knows what he needs to do to get results.

Indeed, Gerrard did make a big-money move to Al-Ettifaq, but with the Anfield legend likely having his eye on a return, it feels likely that he could end up joining a Championship club, much like Frank Lampard has done.

Of course, his main goal will be to become the manager of Liverpool one day, but at the moment, even though many expected him to take over from Jurgen Klopp, it’s clear that he’s not quite ready yet.

Only time will tell what the future has in store, but for now, Gerrard can hold his head high and say that he’s better off than what Fowler and Kewell seem to be.
