Steven Gerrard has been keeping tabs on former club Liverpool this season, although it may be to his ultimate demise.

Gerrard loved Federico Chiesa’s Premier League debut for Liverpool, with the winger having arrived from Juventus in the summer transfer window.

Liverpool have been hugely impressive this season, with Gerrard undoubtedly excited by Arne Slot and his efforts at Anfield.

The Reds are currently second in the Premier League table and joint-top of the new Champions League table.

Slot has also guided them into the quarter-finals of the League Cup after the 3-2 win at Brighton in the last 16.

Steven Gerrard under increasing pressure after recent Liverpool admission

The superb performances under the Dutchman will delight Gerrard, but his own managerial position could now be under threat partially due to his lifelong adoration for the Reds.

As reported by the Daily Mail, the Al-Ettifaq boss faces demands to resign after their shock King Cup loss to second-division club Al-Jabalain.

The newspaper added: “The pressure is mounting on Gerrard, and he did little to endear himself to Al-Ettifaq fans when he recently admitted that he arranges training sessions at the club for certain times so he can watch his beloved Liverpool play.”

Will Al-Ettifaq sack Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard?

Gerrard is now 16 months into his Al-Ettifaq contract, with the Liverpool legend having led the club to sixth place in the Saudi Pro League last season.

But it remains to be seen how much time he will be given to turn things around, with his side currently 10th in the table and now out of the cup.

Regardless of what happens in Saudi, Gerrard will, of course, always be an Anfield hero, having earned legendary status at the Merseyside club from his playing days.

He may, however, have ambitions to return to Anfield in a managerial capacity, but that seems some way off given his current struggles.

Moreover, there doesn’t look like being a vacancy in the Liverpool dugout anytime soon, with Slot flying high in England.
