Liverpool and Real Madrid have been in a back-and-forth battle for years now.
The two clubs have often faced off with one another in the Champions League with both fighting to be seen as the best team in the world.
This summer, things have been no different with Real Madrid prising Trent Alexander-Arnold away on a free transfer upon the expiry of his contract at Anfield.
And, even though Xabi Alonso’s men were forced into spending around £10million to break Alexander-Arnold’s contract early, it’s still a fraction of what he would’ve cost if he had another two or three years on his contract.

Now, however, it seems like it’s Liverpool’s turn to try and get one over their Champions League rivals.
Liverpool want ‘revenge’ on Real Madrid with the transfer of Rodrygo Goes this summer
It’s been clear since the 2024-25 season ended that Liverpool fans were in for a treat this summer.
The Anfield outfit have already spent close to £200million on improving their ranks, with the club showing no signs of slowing down either.
And now, as per a report from Diario AS, Liverpool are now ‘seeking revenge’ on Los Blancos as they look to sign Rodrygo Goes for around £69million.
This comes after the Reds have ‘lost all the duels’ with Madrid over the last few years.
Slot is looking for attacking reinforcement this summer, and Diario AS believe that the Dutchman is looking to sign the Brazilian to be the ‘star’ of his attack next term.

Rodrygo Goes should only be signed if Luis Diaz is sold by Liverpool
Much like Rodrygo, Luis Diaz’s future has been brought into question on multiple occasions.
The Colombia international has been the main target for both Barcelona and Bayern Munich this summer, with both teams having multiple offers rejected.
And, even though Liverpool are sticking with their not-for-sale stance, every player has a price with a fee worth around £70million mooted to be enough to bring the Reds to the negotiating table.
With this in mind, Bayern could end up making an offer that’s too good for the Reds to refuse, which would allow them to sink it all straight back into a bid for Rodrygo.
The Madrid attacker can play anywhere across the front three and, since he’s only 24 years old, there’s still plenty of room for him to grow, whereas, in Diaz’s case, seeing as though he’s 28, he may have already reached the peak of his powers.
Only time will tell what the future has in store, but for now, it’s anyone’s guess what Liverpool’s starting XI could look like.
