Harvey Elliott’s Liverpool future has been under scrutiny ever since he came back from the Under-21 Euros with England.
Arne Slot failed to give the midfielder as much playing time as he likely deserved last season, as the 22-year-old made fewer than 30 appearances.
Under Jurgen Klopp, he was used as a regular starter with the young Englishman often interchanging with Curtis Jones.
However, now that Ryan Gravenberch has found his feet at Liverpool and has become an impressive defensive midfielder, there isn’t a guaranteed spot for either in Slot’s starting XI, which is why Elliott is being linked with moves away.

Plenty of clubs have shown an interest in him this summer, and with just under two months left in the window, it’s hard to see how the former Fulham man will end up staying at Anfield.
Harvey Elliott’s move to West Ham United all depends on what Liverpool want for him
There’s no denying that Elliott is an exceptional talent.
He was the star of the show at the Under-21 Euros, with the midfielder one of the main reasons why Lee Carsley’s men came away with the trophy.
And now, as per a report from Jacob Steinberg via his personal X account, it seems like there’s one thing holding up the deal.
“Kyle Walker-Peters is a good signing for West Ham, especially with GP looking at a wing-back system,” he wrote.
“Provides experienced cover on both sides and it’s not an expensive deal.
“West Ham still in hunt for Harvey Elliott but will depend on asking price”
West Ham United may explore other attacking options if Harvey Elliott is too expensive
Although Elliott was a key cog in Klopp’s system when he was in charge, the midfielder hasn’t yet been the standout player in a team.
When he was for England Under-21s, the midfielder thrived under the pressure and, if he chose to join the Hammers, he’d be among the most talented in the squad.
However, since he’s still just 22 years old and has massive potential, a deal won’t come cheap, which Steinberg shared could end up making Graham Potter explore other targets.
“West Ham have a lot to do and midfield is the priority, so the budget needs to be used accordingly,” he wrote via his personal X account.
“Think you can see with the signing of Diouf what Kyle Macaulay is about, so don’t overreact if Elliott proves too expensive. Other attacking targets identified.”
Only time will tell what the future has in store for Elliott, but if he does get a big-money move to the London Stadium from Liverpool, there’s no doubt that he’d excel and help rebuild Potter’s men.
