Luis Diaz has now made it more than clear that he’d like to leave Liverpool this summer.

The attacker only has two years left on his current deal at Anfield, and with no sign of an extension being put on the table, it’s clear to see why.

The 28-year-old was one of Arne Slot’s best attackers last season, with only Mohamed Salah ahead of him.

This is likely why Slot is doing everything in his power to keep him at Liverpool; however, since he isn’t a guaranteed starter and isn’t likely earning as much as he deserves to be, it’s also obvious why Diaz wants a move.

One of the main areas that Liverpool have been looking to upgrade within their first-team squad this summer is their attack.

Players such as Rodrygo and Alexander Isak have been linked with a move to Anfield recently, but unless some sales are made, the Reds won’t likely be able to do all that much more business.

And, while speaking live on talkSPORT, Simon Jordan gave his thoughts on what it would take for Diaz to be sold by Liverpool this summer.

“He’s a good player, if someone is going to buy him, they’re going to have to pay the money that Liverpool want,” he said.

“That means that they’re going to have to bid way above what the player is worth.”

Although Diaz could end up leaving Liverpool for nothing at the end of next season, it doesn’t make sense for them to sell him without having a replacement lined up.

Rodrygo is arguably the best option on the market at the moment, with several Premier League clubs already showing an interest in the attacker.

However, since he’s only 24 years old and is already a more than solid player, he’s worth a rather hefty chunk of change.

Indeed, there’s also Lyon’s Malick Fofana, who was linked with Liverpool earlier in the window, but now that Paulo Fonseca’s men have had their Ligue 1 status reinstated, he’s also going to cost a pretty penny.

Of course, only time will tell what the future has in store at Anfield, but unless a massive bid for Diaz comes in before the transfer deadline, it feels unlikely that the Colombian will be allowed to exit.
