Luis Diaz’s Liverpool future has been up in the air since the summer transfer window opened at the start of June.
The attacker only has two years left on his current Liverpool deal, with now being the best time for Liverpool to sell him, especially if they’re not going to offer him an extension.
Both Bayern Munich and Barcelona have been rumoured to be interested in making a move for the Colombia international this summer, but Liverpool seem to be sticking firmly to their price tag.

However, after an update was shared on the future of one of the Reds’ reported transfer targets, it seems like an exit for the former Porto man could soon become a reality.
Liverpool signing Rodrygo could open the door to a Luis Diaz exit this summer
After Rodrygo was left on the bench by Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso for five consecutive games in the Club World Cup, rumours have started to circulate about the Brazilian’s future.
Arsenal have been the team most linked with a move, but now they have Noni Madueke arriving at The Emirates, it’s unclear whether there is room in Mikel Arteta’s team for Rodrygo.
This means that the attacker is still available, and as per a report from Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Arne Slot is now ‘very serious’ about signing the Brazilian.
However, it’s ‘clear’ that if Liverpool were to make a move for Rodrygo, they would almost certainly have a ‘need for money’ due to the amount they’ve already spent improving their ranks.
This is why Barcelona believe Diaz’s move to the Nou Camp could become a ‘reality’ with both deals helping move the other along.
And, since Liverpool have rejected yet another offer worth around £58.5million for Diaz, it’s clear that they would have to be desperate to sell the Colombian this summer

Comparing Rodrygo and Luis Diaz’s stats from last season
Both Rodrygo and Diaz had important roles to play for their teams during the 2024-25 season.
Diaz was arguably one of Slot’s best attackers last term, with only Mohamed Salah beating his total goal contributions.
Rodrygo, on the other hand, didn’t score as many goals as he’d have likely wanted to, even though he played 54 times for Los Blancos across all competitions.
| Player | Games | Goals | Assists |
| Luis Diaz | 50 | 17 | 8 |
| Rodrygo | 54 | 14 | 11 |
Both players contributed the same number of goals across the season, and both are very versatile, with each player able to play across the front three without any issues.
One thing that does play in Rodrygo’s favour, however, is the fact that he’s only 24 compared to Diaz, who is 28.
This means that there’s still time for him to grow as a player, and since he’s already proven himself in La Liga and the Champions League, signing him this summer could be exactly what Liverpool need.
