Liverpool fans know who they want to replace Luis Diaz and it isn’t Anthony Gordon

Liverpool may have to replace Luis Diaz this summer as the Colombian continues to flirt with an exit from Anfield.

Diaz had a good season for the Reds, ending the season as their second top scorer on the way to winning the Premier League.

But with two years left on his contract, and no new deal in sight, he has been heavily linked with a move away.

Latest reports suggest that Bayern have agreed terms with Diaz, although Liverpool are still understood to be adamant that their No. 7 is going nowhere.

Barcelona continue to court Diaz as well, while Saudi Arabian side Al Nassr have reportedly made the 28-year-old their top target.

With so much interest in Diaz, Liverpool fans are beginning to look ahead to life without the tricky winger. And while Anthony Gordon continues to be linked as a potential replacement, supporters appear more keen to see Juventus playmaker Kenan Yildiz arrive instead.

Liverpool fans want Kenan Yildiz signing

Yildiz has been rumoured to be of interest to Liverpool for much of the past 18 months. However, the Turk is still at Juventus, where he became a key player last season.

Yildiz bagged 12 goals and laid on seven assists as he made the breakthrough to being a regular starter in Turin. This has caught the eye of Liverpool fans, who are now keen to see what he could do at Anfield.

“The ONLY Diaz replacement is Kenan Yildiz,” one supporter posted on X, with another saying: “Diaz wants to leave? Time to bring Yildiz home.”

“Why are Liverpool accounts talking about Anthony Gordon as a Luis Diaz replacement when we should be targeting Kenan Yildiz?” someone else queried. “Give Juventus a free run at Chiesa and let’s get the talent signed, way more upside than Gordon.”

“I like Yildiz so much, a proper Liverpool player, he even fits in Slot’s playing style,” another claimed.

“If Luis Diaz were to leave this summer, Liverpool shouldn’t be looking to replace him with a traditional winger like Gordon or Rodrygo but a versatile forward like Yildiz or Morgan Rogers,” was one more supporter’s view.

“Liverpool need to sign Yildiz instead of Rodrygo,” someone else suggested. “Although Rodrygo has more experience, we already have an experienced left winger in Gakpo and so don’t necessarily need another one. Yildiz is much more exciting and skilled than Rodrygo in my opinion.”

Finally, one fan gave the 20-year-old perhaps the most exciting review of all, claiming similarities between Yildiz and PSG superstar Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

“Yildiz reminds me a lot of Kvaratskhelia,” they said. “Wouldn’t mind him at Liverpool at all if we can get him.”

Could Liverpool sign Yildiz?

Although Liverpool fans are seemingly keen to bring Yildiz to Merseyside this summer, it does not seem probable to happen.

The Turkey international has become a big player for Juventus, and as Spanish journalist Albert Fernandez reported earlier this week, Yildiz is unlikely to be sold.

“Kenan Yildiz is already a very expensive player, especially after the showcase of the Club World Cup,” Fernandez reported on X in relation to supposed interest from Barcelona.

“Barca nearly signed him, but Juve took him from Bayern in 2022. Now he’s a young star and it’s unlikely he’ll be sold.”

If Liverpool do sell Diaz to one of the interested parties, a move for someone like Gordon – or even Rodrygo – would seem more likely.
