Diogo Jota is arguably one of Jurgen Klopp’s best-ever signings at Liverpool.

The Portugal international was consistently reliable and rarely ever put a foot wrong.

In fact, there were even claims from some people, such as Jamie Carragher, who believed Jota was the best finisher at the club.

In the early hours of Thursday morning, however, Jota’s life was unfortunately cut short after his car tyre reportedly popped, causing him and his brother, Andre Silva, to veer off the road and crash.

Many Liverpool fans have called for the striker’s number to be retired in order to maintain his legacy forever.

He was adored by the City of Liverpool and will no doubt be a massive miss among the Reds’ camp.

Diogo Jota believed Jurgen Klopp’s style of play made him the ‘right’ manager

When Liverpool signed Jota back in 2020, it came as a bit of a surprise to most.

Many fans didn’t likely expect him to do as well as he did at Anfield, but in the end, he rose above everyone’s expectations and showed the world what he was made of.

And, speaking in an interview with Liverpool’s official website when he first joined, the Portugal international shared why he believed Anfield to be the best next step for him and his career.

“The most important thing is trying to know the manager and his style of play,” he said.

“I think this is the right one. Jürgen, I think, is a fantastic coach.

“I looked at him when I was a kid and he was already playing in Champions League finals, so I’ve known him for a long time – not personally, but now I will.

“I think it is the right manager for me and at this stage of my career and I think it is a good – and the right – step.”

Diogo Jota will forever be Liverpool’s number 20

When reports of Jota’s passing first emerged, most fans hoped that it would be fake news.

However, that unfortunately wasn’t the case.

Plenty of condolence messages have been shared from fans, his ex-teammates and his former clubs.

Although the striker isn’t with us anymore, he’ll always be in our hearts.

You’ll never walk alone, Diogo.
