Liverpool have been one of the busiest Premier League teams in the transfer market this summer.

The likes of Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz have already been brought in, with the Reds showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon.

Arne Slot’s men were one of the most dominant forces in the top flight last season, and with all of these new additions, it’s hard to see how they won’t be the team to beat in the 2025-26 campaign.

Indeed, Liverpool will need to sell a fair few members of their first-team squad before being able to register any additions, but it seems like they have a new priority target.

Liverpool are in advanced talks with Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi

Over the last week or so, links between Liverpool and Marc Guehi have surfaced.

While at first they seemed to just be rumours, it now feels like a move for the Englishman could be on the cards.

That is, if a fresh report from Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg is to be believed.

“Understand Marc Guehi is now at the top of the list for Liverpool,” Plettenberg wrote via his personal X account.

“Advanced talks are taking place between Liverpool and the 24 y/o centre-back, with Liverpool trying to close the deal.

“England international remains under contract with Crystal Palace until 2027.”

Marc Guehi could be the perfect replacement for Ibrahima Konate

Seeing as though Guehi only has a year left on his deal at Selhurst Park, there’s no doubt that the Englishman will be sold by Oliver Glasner this summer.

The centre-back is among the best in the Premier League, with Gareth Southgate even calling him “exceptional.”

At the moment, Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate are the Reds’ starting centre-backs, but with the Frenchman also only having a year left on his deal, some changes may have to be made.

Most fans expected Konate to have extended his stay by now, but recent reports have suggested that the former RB Leipzig man wants to leave Anfield.

Guehi would be the perfect replacement as he already has plenty of Premier League experience, and since he’s only 24, there’s also plenty of room for him to grow.

At the moment, it’s anyone’s guess what could happen, but with the Anfield outfit now in advanced talks with the defender, it feels like it’s only a matter of time before he’s announced.
