Harvey Elliott’s Anfield future is in doubt, and he could soon be replaced by new signing Florian Wirtz.
A record £116m fee has been agreed for Wirtz, a sum which will soon make him the most expensive Liverpool signing of all time.
Wirtz is expected to feature in attacking midfield for the Reds – something that could spell the end for Elliott’s Anfield career.
Elliott has been linked with an exit for some time now and will no doubt recognise where he stands in Arne Slot’s pecking order.
So with Wirtz’s arrival likely to push Elliott out of the exit door, the England midfielder has recently given his verdict on the soon-to-be Liverpool man.

Harvey Elliott picks Cole Palmer over Florian Wirtz
Despite his manager, Slot being a huge fan of Wirtz, it seems like Elliott believes there are better players in the Premier League – namely, Cole Palmer.
In a video on the UEFA Men’s Youth page on X, Elliott participated in a “Winners Stay On” game, in which he was asked to choose between players who had previously featured at the Under-21 Euros.
Elliott started the video in perfect fashion by picking former Liverpool target Joao Neves over Everton graduate Anthony Gordon.
A couple of picks later, the midfielder was asked to choose between Fabian Ruiz and Wirtz, picking the German over the PSG man.
During the next question, Wirtz was then pitted against Cole Palmer, with Elliott choosing the Chelsea star over his soon-to-be Liverpool teammate.
Elliott axes Ryan Gravenberch in Euros picks
Elliott’s Wirtz verdict wasn’t the only surprising pick during the video, with the 22-year-old also deciding against picking Liverpool teammate Ryan Gravenberch.
After choosing the Dutchman over Joao Neves, Elliott would go on to pick Liverpool-linked Rafael Leao over Gravenberch.

Given that Liverpool fans rate Leao highly, Elliott can be excused for picking the Portuguese over his Reds colleague, a decision that would have no doubt included some attacking bias.
Will Elliott have the chance to link up with Leao? Or will his Liverpool career already be dead and buried?
