Chelsea and Liverpool have had some truly historic battles over the years.
From high-profile Champions League clashes to the infamous Steven Gerrard slip game, Chelsea and Liverpool have formed a serious rivalry over the years.
Meanwhile, Chelsea and Liverpool have also done battle in the transfer market over the years too.
Chelsea pinched Romeo Lavia from under Liverpool’s noses two years ago, while Moises Caicedo chose Stamford Bridge over Anfield after Liverpool bid for Caicedo.
Now, Chelsea could be set to land another key Liverpool target, according to Matt Law speaking on the London is Blue Podcast.

Chelsea could get Hugo Ekitike
Hugo Ekitike has recently been linked with Liverpool, but according to Matt Law, the striker could be Chelsea-bound instead.
Indeed, Law says that of all the strikers Chelsea have been linked with, he’d put money on Ekitike being the one the Blues go for.
Ekitike is a ‘special’ striker in the eyes of some.
Of course, Chelsea have already signed Liam Delap from Ipswich, but they’re still looking to sign a new striker.
“There’s always a name we’re not thinking about. I haven’t got one for you at the moment. The ones I am aware of are Ekitike, Pedro, the historical interest in Kudus,” Law said.
“There is still a bit of interest around Garnacho.
“If I was to put money on any of them at the moment, I would say probably Ekitike, but there’s a lot of work to be done there on valuations. I think it will be very dependent on whether they can get Felix out and can go out on what kind of deals they can get them out on. But there’s always someone I haven’t thought of, and there’s always a curve ball with this Chelsea group.”
Eintracht Frankfurt recent striker sales
Liverpool may not win the race for Ekitike, but that may not necessarily be a bad thing for the Reds.
Indeed, signing strikers from Eintracht Frankfurt has been a tempting pitfall for many top clubs in recent years, and it doesn’t often go well.
| Eintracht Frankfurt recent striker sales | Fee |
| Randal Kolo Muani – PSG | £77m |
| Omar Marmoush – Man City | £57m |
| Luka Jovic – Real Madrid | £50m |
| Sebastien Haller – West Ham | £45m |
| Andre Silva – RB Leipzig | £20m |
Sebastien Haller really struggled at West Ham, while Luka Jovic didn’t make much impact at Real Madrid.
Meanwhile, Randal Kolo Muani has already been shipped out of PSG, spending the second half of last season on loan at Juventus.
As an exception to the rule, Omar Marmoush is shining at Manchester City, and Marmoush was linked with Liverpool at one point.
Signing Frankfurt strikers is clearly risky business, and Liverpool shouldn’t be too cut up if Ekitike does end up at Chelsea.
