Trent Alexander-Arnold’s Liverpool exit has dominated headlines for the vast majority of the season.
The Anfield outfit have been one of the most dominant teams in England, and to be quite frank, the departure of Alexander-Arnold is something that has hurt fans.
Granted, the right-back may have wanted to experience something new and try his luck in another league, but the way he left Anfield was wrong.

Ahead of the trophy lift, however, Jurgen Klopp has sent Liverpool fans a message regarding Alexander-Arnold, which has left them somewhat divided.
Liverpool fans react as Jurgen Klopp tells them he’s ‘disappointed’ with their booing of Trent Alexander-Arnold
Alexander-Arnold was always the most likely out of himself, Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk to leave Anfield upon the expiry of his contract.
However, that doesn’t mean the way things have gone down hasn’t hurt fans with the Liverpool-born defender seeming to only have one thing in mind.
As mentioned, Klopp’s message has left the fanbase somewhat divided, with nobody knowing how it’s all going to go down on Sunday against Crystal Palace.
“Trent had it coming. Klopp wrong on this one. Too close to the situation. Fans have it right,” one fan wrote.
Another added: “Klopp is entitled to his opinions as are the fans. Once Trent is gone the better for everyone at the club. Trophy parade soon and Wirtz signing to forget all about Trent, this will all be forgotten very quickly.”
Another fan felt sorry for the defender and wrote: “I am sorry, Trent Alexander-Arnold, but what were you expecting. You saw this coming.”
With another adding that booing wasn’t the Liverpool way: “Klopp reminding us what class really looks like. Criticism in the moment shouldn’t erase years of loyalty, trophies, and magic from Trent. This isn’t the Liverpool way.”
Trent Alexander-Arnold will regret how he left Liverpool this season
Even though Alexander-Arnold may have felt like he needed a new challenge, there’s not a chance that he won’t regret how things have panned out.
The fact that the Englishman stayed quiet about the topic for most of the 2024-25 season and continued to lead fans on throughout the campaign is one of the main reasons his departure stings.
However, the fact that Liverpool won’t get a penny for his services from Real Madrid also makes it a hard thing for fans to accept.
Even if he had just negotiated a year-long deal with a £40-£50million release clause in, at least that way, fans would know he’s on his way out.

Indeed, Liverpool do have Jeremie Frimpong on his way, but it still remains to be seen if he can live up to the standards Alexander-Arnold has set over the last few years.
Only time will tell what the future holds, but even with Klopp telling fans not to forget about what he’s done for the club, it’s hard to see how the reception he receives won’t be somewhat hostile.
