Liverpool are making waves in the transfer market before the window has even officially opened.

Reds supporters have been promised a busy summer this time, having seen their club stay virtually silent throughout the past three windows.

And with the Premier League season still yet to even finish, Liverpool already stand on the verge of making their first signing.

Jeremie Frimpong is due to arrive after Liverpool triggered the £30m release clause in his Bayer Leverkusen contract.

Latest reports suggest that Frimpong could officially sign on Monday ahead of the Reds’ trip to face Brighton.

As Liverpool prepare to welcome yet another Dutch player, former attacker Ryan Babel has weighed in to give his verdict on Frimpong’s arrival at his old club.

Ryan Babel excited by arrival of ‘talent’ Jeremie Frimpong

Liverpool have an impressive history of Dutch players representing the club, with Babel one of 12 to have done so.

Unless anything unexpected happens in the coming hours, Frimpong will become the 13th.

Taking to X on Sunday evening, Babel looked ahead to the 24-year-old’s signing and insisted that the move was ‘well deserved’ for Frimpong.

“Jeremy Frimpong will be joining LFC next season! Let’s show him love early and wish him all the best,” said the 38-year-old.

“Congrats champ — well deserved!”

Asked in the comments to give his thoughts on the signing, Babel simply wrote ‘Dutch talent.’ Say no more.

Liverpool not finished with Frimpong

While Frimpong’s arrival is certainly exciting, Liverpool supporters will hope that it is the first of several deals for their club this summer.

That hope strengthened on Monday after news emerged that Liverpool have approached Bournemouth to sign Milos Kerkez.

With talks between the two teams now set to take place, it looks like a matter of time before the Reds secure their second addition of the summer.

Together with Frimpong, Kerkez will immediately resolve Liverpool’s issues at full-back.

These are hugely interesting new buys for Liverpool, who can hopefully settle in right from day one of pre-season.
