Liverpool drew 2-2 against Arsenal on Sunday as they played out an entertaining game with their closest Premier League rivals.
Both teams had nothing much riding on the match, and perhaps that helped deliver an open game at Anfield.
Whatever the scoreline, though, the main talking point of the game was the introduction of Trent Alexander-Arnold from the Liverpool bench.
Alexander-Arnold was given a ferocious reaction by supporters at Anfield, as they let him know what they thought of his decision to walk away from the club on a free transfer.
Although fans will no doubt be criticised for their response, it was understandable given the circumstances surrounding Alexander-Arnold’s exit.
One man who has little reason to comment is Man United legend Rio Ferdinand. But, lo and behold, the former centre-back has weighed in with his own tone-deaf response anyway.

Rio Ferdinand baffled by Liverpool fans’ boos
Ferdinand has clearly never had an understanding of Liverpool Football Club in any kind of sense.
As a United great, he actively loathed the club throughout his career and likely still does.
Nevertheless, he still feels the need to let Reds fans know how they should be behaving in this instance.
Taking to X shortly after the full-time whistle on Sunday, Ferdinand claimed that he was ‘baffled’ by the reaction to Alexander-Arnold from the stands.
“I can’t believe LFC fans booing one of their own,” said the pundit.
“I understand that some of you guys are not happy with his decision etc BUT to boo Trent after he has won the lot with you is baffling! Didn’t cost you a penny.”
Arne Slot makes huge mistake with Trent Alexander-Arnold
This is exactly why Arne Slot should not have brought Alexander-Arnold with the matchday squad on Sunday.
The Liverpool head coach has got an awful lot right this season, but this was a really poor decision.
Although Reds fans have every right to react in the way they did, it does open up the floor for people like Ferdinand to criticise.
In reality it has nothing to do with Ferdinand – or anyone outside of Liverpool – but such was the strength of reaction, people will of course weigh in.
This all could have been avoided by Slot, of course. But ultimately there is only really one man to blame for this, and that is Alexander-Arnold.
